"Buy 2 packages of Kool-Aid (make sure it is that brand)...and preferably grape."

While Kool-Aid is thought of as being used at Jonestown, it wasn't. Flavor Aid - a cheaper form of drink was used. I just thought that I would point that out. You got the 'grape' part correct, though. *wide grin*

For those interested, Wikipedia has a pretty good narrative of what happened there in Jonestown. I remember when the news broke in 1978. I was working at the radio station in Burnet, TX.

I'll be in on it. What shall I sent to the Oz WTBTS though? You can't buy Kool-Aid (or Flavor-Aid) here. Tang? Gatorade?

To answer a couple of questions:

why grape? someone else got the Jonestown connection. ITS A JOKE...the older ones will get it....the younger ones will not but it will be the talk of Bethel breakfast for certain.

I am still hoping someone with artistic skills can whip up something to go in the envelope. (somewhere on the bottom maybe it should say "this is a nonhazardous material being used in form of protest against the Watchtower Society and is in compliance with USPS Publication 52)

As for legality...there is nothing in the US postal code that I can find about sending packets of identifiable Kool-aid...(anyone here work for the USPS want to confirm?) When sending regular packages, the clerk will always ask "anything liquid, fragile, hazardous, perishable?" Kool-aid powder does not fall in this category. (see Publication 52 from the USPS if you want to check for sure http://pe.usps.gov/text/pub52/welcome.htm) (but I would still wipe my prints off and not lick the envelope...haha)

As for a date..I agree with someone else that we wait another week until we start hearing the US got sept 07 kms.... the local yokels are starting to get them in their magazine order, so it will be another week or so before the R&F get them.

As for fake addresses....they are real addresses. If it is returned, it just gets returned back to a KH!

As for you UK/Australia, etc folks, Apparently you can buy it online at this site: http://www.koolaiduk.com/ or this site: http://www.kool-aid.co.uk/ NO KIDDING! Ironically, the stuff used at Jonestown was Flavor Aid not Kool Aid, but no one would get the reference if you used flavor aid. Maybe send whatever is your countries equivalent if you dont have Kool-aid.

Please keep this to the top until we do it....

"All this will do is save the Society some money. They will serve Kool Aid for breakfast, lunch and dinner at Bethel."

Actually, this would be hilarious - if they did this. It would only 'add' to the joke. Can you imagine sitting down to a breakfast, lunch or dinner - and everyone having a small cup of 'Kool-Aid' to drink?

Most of the young ones are too young to remember Jonestown, and would gulp down their kool-aid. It's the older ones that would know what happened there - if they kept up with the news - and would 'pass' on the kool-aid.

Just keep me informed of the date, what to put in the envelope, and where to send it to.

Anyone have ideas for the "letter/message portion?" My artistic talent is zilch.

Brother Snakes ;) What a fabulous idea!

    I have some suggestions.

I have been around the block with the fake return address thing and the post office lady got mad at me. What I settled on after that is using this address on envelopes I put in the mail box (not mailing at the post office window):

    Beth Sarim (or Beth Shan)
    (your local KH address)
(your town, state, you get the idea)

These look like a real person’s name so they don’t raise suspicion. (If you don’t know what these names mean, Google—you’re in for a treat.)

I don’t think it’s illegal to mail Kool Aid and seriously doubt anything would come of it…...but what do you think of someone Photoshopping some hilarious stuff onto a full page size Kool Aid packet image and having people just print that out and mail it? The image could explain the joke so it’s not missed.

Then (a) no one has to go and buy Kool Aid (I guarantee I will forget) and (b) no one at the WTS will be able to claim we’re mailing them bioterrorism powder or some such crap.

I think this idea is probably even better. Then no one thinks we are mailing purple anthrax...

...sooooo... anyone with PhotoShop want to help.... where is our experts when we need them? Can someone get a package of grape Kool-Aid and scan it and upload it? (My scanner does not work or I would)

and here's a link that shows you all the colors you can dye yarn with kool-aid which is a much better use for it. I think mailing the image of grape kool-aid is a better idea, and safer, and easier for folks in other countries.

ooops, forgot the other link: http://iriewoman.blogspot.com/2007_04_01_archive.html
