    Good list Drew.

    Is this for real?

    - The Watchtower study conductor should not ask any other questions other than those presented in the paragraphs.

How will they even manage to make the study last 60 minutes if this is true? Is the conductor supposed to just stare at the audience and wait for them to come up with secondary comments?

The follow-up questions were really the only thing that made the Watchtower study even remotely interesting. If they cannot really ask other questions, the meetings will get more zombified than they already are.

it totally cuts down on peoples own opinions that way gopher, they are avoiding people having to think. i remember as a dub feeling clever because i answered but its not all that hard is it lol.

Wasn't independent bible study among Bethelites the beginning of the end for Ray Franz? Perhaps they are going to start a massive disfellowshipping move again and clean house (congregations), thereby getting rid of all the independent thinkers again.

Wouldn't that be something if some more "heavies" from Bethel were "cleaned out"? Surely they can't ALL be asleep at the wheel, unless their conscience has been seared. *truthsearcher moves over to make room for more newbies on JWD*

I thought the Conductor was not supposed to introduce their own researched material and present it during the study. This would be in effect that what was presented in the WT by the FDS was inferior or lacking. I think secondary questions could be genreated as long it went along with what is written. However, could it be feasible that the new WT study could increase, lets say 10 more paragraphs to ensure they can meet the 60 min time limit?

There was a letter sent out to all Elders that discussed this in detail. I'm sure somebody out there has got a link they can post.

Also, I thought the Watchtower Study was 45-50 minutes not 60.

Not quite...there was a BOE letter about 3 or 4 months ago, saying that conductors should not bring in "extra material" from their own personal research into the study.

It also discouraged asking addtional questions while others have their hands raised...implying it is better to get comments ready to be made before asking any additional questions. But if no hands are up, "other questions" are OK - just so long as they don't stray too far outside the box.

I understand the current Sunday meeting structure to be this (let's assume a 10 a.m. start time)

    10:00 Song and Prayer

    10:05 Public Talk

10:50 Introductory Song for Watchtower Study

    10:55 Watchtower Study

    11:55 Song and Prayer

12:00 Meeting concludes, everyone go home to watch football

The public talk will be 30 minutes instead of 45 minutes, starting in 2008. But the WT Study continues to be 60 minutes AFAIK.

Drew, I would be interested in that letter also. My husband was WT conductor some years back and he was instucted to draw the audience out with auxilery questions. I do know the conductor the last few times I went, would ask the question and then wait and wait until serveral hands would go up so he could pick and choose those he wanted to call on. These long pauses of silence made everyone uncomfortable. I didn't know if that was 'his style' or if instructed to just ask the question exactly as written and wait them out.

and yes, I do believe the WTstudy is 45min. With song and prayer adding the other 15min. The Public Talk is also 45min, not 1hr. And the speaker can 'count his time' because it is public ministry.I'll bet they all fudge it to 1hr. The 30min talk is going to cut into the looks of those guys service report.

    - Individuals who are disfelloshipped, dissassociated, or have ceased association with the congregation should not receive the current literature.

I don't know about you but I don't know how I will be able to handle this new rule. I so look forward to their latest publications. Just kidding!

What is the point of this rule? Are they just being childish doing the equivalent of taking their marbles and going home? Are they afraid it will be used against them? I would think if they were concerned about having those who leave return they would want them to read it.

And the new rule about how to dress for dinner after an assembly will probably suffocate a few more into running for the door. They just keep adding to the load.

    Drew,

Nice list, and you can also add the strong anti-college talk at the DC, where they outlined the five horrible aspects of going to college for a JW - all of which were pretty flimsy stuff.
