my mom learned the truth 40+ years ago from my uncles and some people in europe. she has been going regularly since 1978 or so.

lately she's been going to some meetings only due to health.

yesterday at noon she got a visit from the P.O. and he made a "pastoral visit"

my mom today reported to me that she posed this question to him: What is the "generation" that the bible talks about??? (the end "generation)

The P.O. did not answer her question, and said that only the faithful and discreeet slave know!!!

P.S.: not that even though my mom is faithful, she has seen alot during her life, and she remembers my uncle telling her about 1975!!!

so, he's admitting the slave is withholding information? interesting. so much for unity.

only the faithful and discreeet slave know!

How does the PO know that FDS knows this?

    The FDS doesn't know anything!

It could also be that PO really did not know or have an explanation.

Most JW's do not have a deep understanding of their own doctrines and be able to explain them to someone else.

You ask them about changes in the "sheep and goats" "generation" "gathering of the 144k" " Blood" and you will see that many will not be able to give

    an answer.

I found that most that were raised in the "truth" were the worst one in being able to discuss doctrine.

well, that's just a lazy evasion of a direct question that also implies her lack of trust and faith in the F&DS. He can't tell the truth and say "Oh shit, I don't know. Who knows?" He has to say in a solemn churchy voice that only the GB knows. Yuck.

My mom still vividly remembers the picture in the truth book. and it shows an arrow starting from 1914 to 70-72 or so years in the plus timeline.

I guess the new tactic of some elders is to avoid debating, and play dumb to these questions....... for goodness sake, could an almost 80 yo turn apostate?

Didn't Jesus say, "Only my father in heaven knows"

This is a brave question for any witness to ask, let alone think about. It's equally interesting that she shared this conversation with you. Sounds like she's not comfortable with the "mystery" (i.e., vagueness) surrounding the generation.

Many of us who were raised in the religion during the 1960s well remember the little blue "Truth" book that clearly showed an arrow extending from 1914 to somewhere just after 1975....
