yah they changed it to an invisible generation ,the generation is now undefined and is now symbolic . From what I've been reading about the change. Personally after reading the passage several more times I came to the conclusion that they probly had it right but that "this generation" was not promised eternal life but would live long enough to see the restoration of pure worship .So 1914 is still a good date .IMO

"Most JW's do not have a deep understanding of their own doctrines and be able to explain them to someone else."

Actually, there were many things I could explain and did understand their reasoning, though I now do not agree with them. It was the only thing I had every known, after all. But there were things that went right over my head that I think they deliberately intend to go people's heads, such as that Jesus is not the Mediator for everyone, but only for the 144,000. There were also changes that I found out about in the last year being on JWD and reading Crisis of Conscience and In Search of Christian Freedom that went over my head before because there would just be a small blurb somewhere about them, obviously not expounded on so as to not raise questions or doubts in people.

That elder must have been lazy and did not understand their new twist to the generation and did not want to look it up.

Most Witnesses that ask that question wont push the issue because they have had the WTBTS doing their thinking for years. Those that KNOW the answer will never ask the question.

when i was still attending book study and we covered the part about the generation in the revelation book, the elder conducting made a stupid comment about how old the anointed must be by now...of course i was looking around to see if anyone was going to raise their hand and correct him..but of course no one did...we were like 15...anyways, i raised my hand and said i remembered studying an article and how it had changed..bla bla bla...but what surprised me was that no on knew anything about it...and this was before any doctrinal doubts....

The P.O. did not answer her question, and said that only the faithful and discreeet slave know!!!

It is possible that the elder did not remember the change,, only that there was a change. Those deeply entrenched do not understand or think about these "deep" doctornal issues. This just proves, that understanding is not a prerequisite for getting ahead in the organization.

My former wife was like that. She absolutely believes she has the truth. But she really does not understand the details of her faith. And could never articulate any details in a cohesive manner.

Nathan..That picture sold me back in 1969.It's right out of the ole' Truth Book. Otherwise known as 'The Blue Bomb.' They got the blue bomb right, that book sure did bomb and has been replaced and replaced by other duds.

Nathan, thanks for refreshing our memory with that iconic picture from '69. Wonder why the WTS didn't include it in the '95 weasel out article on the subject?
