Good question, VM44. The other question I'd have is what will happen to those JW leaders who covered up child abuse that this book exposes? In other organizations, these sort of people get in trouble. In the Catholic Church, Cardinal Law was forced to resign. (Others similarly had to face the consequences of their actions...though many would say not enough of them did.)
But, will the Watchtower officials exposed in this book face any consequences? I'm not necessarily meaning legal problems (though that may be called for). But, in most organizations, people are either fired or forced to resign for covering up child abuse. In most organizations, there are special meetings called with the people in the organization or church to openly discuss these issues. When my son joined the Cub Scouts we had to discuss the issue of pedophilia. I had to discuss this both with my son and with the local Scout leaders before he could join.
Will these revelations cause any changes in the WT Organization that would mirror what other organizations have had to do? Will those leaders who covered up child abuse face any discipline? Will some have to resign? Will Witness congregations establish child protection policies and have open meetings with members to reassure them these policies are being faithfully followed?
