WOOHOOOO Welcome Rebelwife!
Bobbi (a wannabe rebel)
Welcome, Rebelwife. I'm a non-JW married to a nutty Witness.
Why does he hang on to the beliefs? What does he get out of it? What holds him? Is it fear, a false sense of security, concreteness, family, guilt, desire for acceptance, desire to buck the crowd, urge to be "different" than the masses around him, love of conflict, a sense of order to the world?
Getting inside his head is the first step to knowing how to get him out.
Would he respond to research materials casually left out where he can find them? Sometimes an oblique approach can do wonders.
Rebelwife! Welcome!
How long have you lurked?
Have you found much helpful info already?
Is there any way we can be of service?
You keep at him, and you'll shake him loose eventually.
I advise the book 'captives of a concept' by Don Cameron. it's only five bucks to DL the pdf and it's an awesome read.
It lays bare the two most important scriptures in WT theology, the F&DS parable, and the 'light' proverb, and how they are misapplied.
It doesn't debate what the WTS teaches now, because it doesn't matter. the only thing you need to know about the WTS is this: Are they God's Organization?
If they are, do whatever they say, but if they are not, get out.
Then it demolishes the WTS claims of divine appointment using only WTS sources.
I love Ray Franz, but he can be a little tough for some readers, but Cameron's book is delightfully laid out and simply written.
I don't want to spam the forums, and I HAVE suggested this book more than a few times, but googling the title will turn it up if you want it.
Good luck, you can do it!

Welcome to JWD Rebelwife ;-)
Hello RebelWife and welcome! My suggestion is to ask your husband to read Isaiah 42:18-22, which says: 18 Hear, YOU deaf ones; and look forth to see, YOU blind ones. 19 Who is blind, if not my servant, and who is deaf as my messenger whom I send? Who is blind as the one rewarded, or blind as the servant of Jehovah? 20 It was a case of seeing many things, but you did not keep watching. It was a case of opening the ears, but you did not keep listening. 21 Jehovah himself for the sake of his righteousness has taken a delight in that he should magnify the law and make it majestic. 22 But it is a people plundered and pillaged, all of them being trapped in the holes, and in the houses of detention they have been kept hidden. They have come to be for plunder without a deliverer, for pillage without anyone to say: “Bring back!” Then ask him to read Ezekiel chapter 13 and ask himself if it could possibly be talking about Christendom.
