I'm doing a research on pms/pmdd and what it does to relationships such as friends/spouses/children.

PMS affects about 85% of women....mild to severe

PMDD affects about 3-8% of women...severe to intolerable.

    Edit to add....

    http://www.nlm.nih.gov/medlineplus/ency/article/007193.htm#Signs%20and%20tests

The symptoms of PMDD are similar to those of PMS, but they are generally more severe and debilitating. Symptoms occur during the last week of most menstrual cycles and usually improve within a few days after the period starts.

Five or more of the following symptoms must be present:

    • Feeling of sadness or hopelessness, possible suicidal thoughts
    • Feelings of tension or anxiety
    • Panic attacks
    • Mood swings marked by periods of teariness
    • Persistent irritability or anger that affects other people
    • Disinterest in daily activities and relationships
    • Trouble concentrating
    • Fatigue or low energy
    • Food cravings or binge eating
    • Sleep disturbances
    • Feeling out of control
    • Physical symptoms, such as bloating, breast tenderness, headaches, and joint or muscle pain

Well, as a male, I'm not supposed to acknowledge it exists, right?

What if you have those symptoms 24/7?

    Is it still PMS?

Journey, when I read that (I think last week) I laughed my a** off. Though, to be honest I wouldn't be surprised if I've sent/told someone off like that.

Seriously though, I have never had any of those symptoms (well maybe the food cravings)

All my relationship problems stem from getting married at 17 and then spending the next eighteen years trying desperately to make an impossible relationship work. Onse I started making my own decisions, instead of letting a bunch of old men in NY make them, my relationships just got better and better.

OK, to be honest? Yeah, it's affected me! Definitely depends on the person, some just get emotional (fine) and some get just plain mean (not fine).

The one thing that I've seen that really helps, shoot, it helped queen Victoria, and was one of the reasons that the banning of it was protested by the AMA in 1937? Pot.

The reason for my research is on a personal goal. I have had ALL of those symptoms. Some to an intolerable degree and others to a very difficult time. I've been doing this research with charts/dates/time and have seen a pattern when ex and I would get in the most arguments. This has been a 4 month research. I'm trying to collect enough information to show to my Dr and start working up a plan to feel better.

I believe that is what the main cause of my divorce. I also think that's why I don't have many friends. Hence why I started the research. I think I'm going to carry this research out for another month so I can see just how many lives are affected by this condition.

I only wish that I knew how to do research and charts...and things like this about 10 years ago. I feel that this could have changed my outcome of my personal life big time. I'm hoping that I can do enough research to help other people. Especially since I'm working on my healthcare degree.

I don't PMS, I do the whole alphabet.

There are no words to fully tell how bad PMS has effected my life.

Two weeks out of the month I try to fix the damage done during the two weeks of PMS.
