Taliban - Resistence is FUTILE !

The following appeared on CNN today. It is like something the Klingon Empire or the Borg from Star Trek might say. The US Military is broadcasting all over Afghanistan the following message - I believe on all frequencies. Here's a complete text of one broadcast:

"Attention Taliban! You are condemned. Did you know that? The instant the terrorists you support took over our planes, you sentenced yourselves to death. The Armed Forces of the United States are here to seek justice for our dead. Highly trained soldiers are coming to shut down once and for all Osama bin Laden's ring of terrorism, and the Taliban that supports them and their actions.

"Our forces are armed with state of the art military equipment. What are you using, obsolete and ineffective weaponry? Our helicopters will rain fire down upon your camps before you detect them on your radar. Our bombs are so accurate we can drop them right through your windows. Our infantry is trained for any climate and terrain on earth. United States soldiers fire with superior marksmanship and are armed with superior weapons.

"You have only one choice ... Surrender now and we will give you a second chance. We will let you live. If you surrender no harm will come to you. When you decide to surrender, approach United States forces with your hands in the air. Sling your weapon across your back muzzle towards the ground. Remove your magazine and expel any rounds. Doing this is your only chance of survival."

They haven't seemed all that scared before.
They've saying that they will win because ALLA is with them.

This kinda reminds me some of the stories of the old testememt.

Hi Ranchette: I think that as the bombing and intimidation continue, many of the Taliban will give up. Cowards are not as determined as they would have us believe. They make way too much of the fact that they will use suicide to harm others. Yet, the Japanese with their suicide Kamikazi bomber caved in - although it took two small nuclear bombs to make the point.

I think that the image they have of not being all that scared is because of the few nut cases they are able to manipulate into suicide bombings and attacks. And they grossly underestimate the USA determination to win and our own willingness to die if necessary.

You noted, "They've saying that they will win because ALLA is with them." Yep. But, they will find that Allah is deaf. And that Allah may not be with them, but actaully against them because they violate the Holy Koran.

I found the above US Military propaganda strangely eeiree. Almost a sad, but humorous dialoghue from a Sci-Fi movie. But, maybe thius is the only language these people will understand. It is somewhat intimidating, and at least they know that this is serious.

Well it's about time. Since most Afghans are illiterate we were wasting our money printing and dropping leaflets. DUH!!!!

Cowards are not as determined as they would have us believe True, but who said Afghanis are cowards? As a matter of fact, these people have been in a war since the day they were born!

And, (and I know I will be attacked again), the American statement was a whole lot of piss. Yes, they know SOME of the smart bombs hit their targets, and they know that some also explode.

Remember the Gulf War? What was shown on TV was a damned bluff - the successes. IF the US Air Force had done so fantastic bombing of valuable targets, they would have shown videos - just because propaganda demands successes to show for.

So far, the Taliban has been able to show mor hits on civilian mud-huts than the US can show of valuable targets! And the claims of the Taliban is supported partly by the UN and independant journalists!

When we come to ground fighting, up in the mountains, I'm not so sure the fighting is so "futile" as the propaganda says. After all, Russia and England has tried before. Of all the English who invaded, 1 survived. More Russians survived - but the SuperPower Russia lost the battle against these "cowards".

So, I don't agree. This time, however, the Taliban don't get tons of modern weapons from nobody - and they can't keep on fighting for ever. But a fast victory - no way.

What's MORE interesting just now is when the Middle-East explodes. The idiots in Israel will make the Middle-East the problem the US fears most - I'm pretty certain about that. And what then?

The need of two new "small nuclear bombs" placed in Israel seems to be a solution, and you seem to accept those weapons as acceptable....

You are right. After the third day of bombing, the US military said it was running out of 'valuable targets'. Most of Afghanistan IS civilian mud huts!

However, when viewing the 'before' and 'after' pictures of Afghanistan, it really doesn't look all that different to me. This country IS mudhuts. Whether civilian or gorvernmental!

Please tell me you're not beleiving the TALIBAN?!?!?

This is going to make a HUGE difference. The Soviets had to contend with the Afgans having US made surface to air missle. Very deadly. What will the Afgans have? Maybe they'll throw some rocks. I agree that it may not be a quick victory but the Afgans have no will to fight the US. Reports are coming in that the Taliban is already starting to splinter. You'll see one of Ben Ladin's men turn on him and stick that bastard's head on a stick and collect the reward.

I agree the US messages cause conflicting feelings at the same time.
