Life Goes too Fast

I'm getting depressed lately realizing my life is fast comming to an end. So many of my acquaintances in this life are dying and it won't be long before I will be gone. There is nothing we can do to stop it. I'm feeling my age now and I don't like it. It's just happened in the last year, I can't do the things I did a few years ago, like crawling under the house and fixing the plumbing, climbing trees, working on cars, lifting apliances and stuff like this. I'm still in good shape for a man in his seventies but I want to be like I was when I was 50. It's hard to accept life as it comes your way. All you young folks, enjoy it while you can, it goes too fast.

Wow, I feel like that and I am thirty. Guess I have a whole lot of worrying ahead of me huh? Go do something you enjoy and make every minute of it count. In your pic it looks like you have a grandkid. Spend your time with them, leaving as much of your influence behind as possible. Hey you may have another 20 years!!

Be happy for the measure of health and strengh you do have. Who wants to do those yucky things you mentioned anyway? LOL

Why do you say you'll be gone soon? You may live to 100! Enjoy every day. Read, listen, grow... it doesn't end till it ends.

I've got to find something that I can get interested in. I have in the past enjoyed building R/C airplanes but lately I can't make myself finish one that I started a few months ago. I don't know what has happened to me lately. Nothing catches my interest. My wife is about the same way. We celebrated our 33 aniversary last week and was going out of town but didn't go. Money is tight lately and everything we enjoy doing cost too much lately. I hope I get over this mood. I get melancholy when I drive by the old places my family lived and I remember the old times. Maybe it will get better.

You may be clinically depressed. Talk to your doctor about how you feel. Trust me on this one.

Sometimes I wonder if this isn't God's Nature's way of turning us inward during the latter part of our earthly existence in order to evaluate ourselves and our life's journey. It slows us down physically so we can take stock of this life's contribution to our soul's journey. Did we love well? Did we appreciate and value our life? Did we find joy along the way? Did we pass on anything worth knowing to someone? However small and insignificant it may seem to us, perhaps it was of immense value to someone else. Did we learn something of value? Little lessons, big lessons lived, taught, learned...time to think and contemplate.

    Thanks, Undecided.

We'll get together in 10 or 15 years to discuss this truth.

I always enjoy your perspective and I hope you're feeling better soon.

you sound depressed and it wouldn't hurt to go talk to your doctor about it, get something to cheer you up. I remember someone, I think it was Johnny Carson, asking an older actor what his advice is for younger people. Of course, I think this guy had a terminal illness, but still it was an opportunity to find out what he would say to us. This guy said never turn down a sandwich, which I thought was cute. Maybe you are at a point of evaluating where you have been and where you are going next. 70ish isn't that old, nevertheless what would you like to say to us? What worked in your life? what turned out to be important? What were your best habits? what are you glad about in your life history? What would you do differently?

Life is too short to waste it going to meetings and out in service.
