In my opinion, if you have family members you hope to lead out, the fade is the best way to go.
Is Fading Worth it?

I just walked away. Inactive. Faded. Whatever. I didn't feel like I owed anyone an explanation
I did the same! I literally went to a Wednesday meeting, had my son on Sunday, turned 18 on Tuesday and never stepped foot in another KH
I wish my mom would shun me

I experience the same thing from my family. I guess they don't love me enough to try to 'save' me.

I was going to fade, but had no patience for their harassment. I tolerated it for about 3 months. I had no social life among the JWs anyway, so I had nothing to lose and everything to gain by ordering them out of my life immediately. I wrote a letter telling them I wanted nothing to do with their abusive cult, and to stay away from me and my home. The harassment stopped right away.

I think so, if it means extra work maintaining my records and having them worry about if I'm ever going back. If I can waste any of their time and resources on me that "should" be spent on the field misery or in "helping" someone that might be more prone to stay in, then I have done some good. However, there is nothing for me to lose aside this waste of their time if they do disfellowship me behind my back, except for association with a bunch of sore losers that would like nothing more than for me to pxxx my life away on them.
