Maybe God is not a tyrant. Maybe God wouldn't do what you are suggesting. Maybe we will all just live and die. Maybe we are just ordinary people. Maybe life will go long after we are gone. Maybe we should just enjoy this life instead of obsessing about tomorrow.

They only have the 'right' because they are more powerful. They take the right, it is not bestowed on them automatically. Who gave them that right? No one. They took it because they could.
And they are all tyrannical too.
So I stand by my statement that any god who says, 'do this or die' is tyrannical because it is not letting anyone live free.
Sure, murderers should not be allowed to run free, but what of us normal everyday blokes who just want to live in peace? We would be murdered just because we do not want to bow down at sunrise everymorning or some such silliness?.
But even if god's requirements were not burdensome, it does not matter because he says,' 'do this or die''. Either way he's a tyrant.
If god just said,
'those who wish to follow me, I will greatly bless, and those who wish to not follow me, then I leave you in peace, but I will not bless you with anything'.
That would be fair.
OK - let's for the sake of argument say God has every right to kill those who oppose him. Why would He want to? Why this need to kill? And what kind of punishment is that for a life style of, say someone like me: I've never killed or physically harmed anyone. In my life right now, which I admit is pretty dull - I don't do pretty much any of the things frowned upon in the Bible. But even if I did - why this need to kill me? Actually - even if I had killed someone, God could resurrect that person, and punish me somehow for once taking that person's life. But take my life away for ever? I don't see the point. Other than to fulfill some people's archaic sense of 'justice'.

They don't have a right, they take the right. If the god of the bible did create every thing, then sure he can do what ever he wants, who is going to stop him? But to say he is loving and just after reading what the bible says about him and the laws he gave to the Israelites, I don't have the same definition of love and justice has you do.
I would do nothing different. I am a good person. If this "god" does not want people like me in his world, then I don't want to live there.

With all due respect, man has had a pretty free rein so to speak, this freedom has led to a world that is unrecognizable by anyone who is 40+ years old Those emails we all recieve about "do you remember" is so true. The world in which I grew up, was somewhat peacable, respectful, free from relative fear even though we had those nuclear sit under your desk drills,TV was not violent and children listened to their parents and teachers, elderly ones too had respect. AIDS didnt claim tens of millions of lives and leave children orphaned, terrorismnever was mentioned, mothers stayed home to raise the kids, we never ever even thought the earth would warm until millions might have to retreat from the seashore,Extreme in weather was not the norm, govermental rulers were always questionable but not exposed like this administration and others. People worked for a living and had something to show, instead of a country saturated in personal, govermental and corporate debt. People didnt kill other students at school, we had gun clubs and bow and arrow clubs where kids brought them to school without fear. Kids played and childhood obesity wasnt the norm and childhood diabetics, childhood heart disease wasnt ever spoken of. Everybody had insurance, everybody got the little childhood diseases and laughed at them. Video games featuring mass death and killing yet alone porn wasnt even thought of or spoken of. Kids learned how to get along, not kill or hurt someone seriously. Childhood suicides were not heard of. No one feared of flying except those with the fear of flight but not terrorism, airport security wasnt mentioned. These are only several things, the list could go on and on.
If this has all happened within the last 20 couple of years and IF this is the result of Freedom and Progress.
I ask "How much more freedom and Progress can we take"?

The problem for me is that no matter how many different ways I interpret the bible God still comes out looking like a tyrannical, egotistical, self-centered killer. If the bible was absolutely correct, and every human being was wrong in it’s interpretation what the hell was God’s point in providing it for us? Why was it so confusing? Wouldn’t he know that the confusion created from his word would cause millenniums of violence and wars over it’s interpretation? So his inability to provide coherent, easily understood instructions to his creation proves to me that he is neither all mighty nor deserving of our reverence. He should have written "The Idiots guide to Life" or "Living for Dummies", at least then we could follow his word. Also, why would he wait so long? Your question raises even more questions about God’s purpose. I think it might take me more than 7 days to figure it all out.
I understand your point, abr, I am not advocating that humans run amuck and destroy themselves and others.
Most of us here just want to live peaceful lives, yet, we would be destroyed just for wanting that.
That is all I meant.
It is too bad that the world is in the state that it is in.
It's just that KILLING is a tyrannical way to enforce rules.
Perhaps a free-er society would be one that is divided. The ones who are power-hungry meglomaniacs live over on one side of the world, the ones that just want to live peaceably amongst themselves, live on the other. Or if you want a stricter set of laws, then only people who never hurt another human being should be allowed to live.
I just think that if you are killed for simply not wanting to worship, then that is not justice.
Justice is eye for an eye, in my books anyways.
I'd tell God he has some real anger management issues. Then I'd ask him: I bet you have in the past wound up destroying all your creations, and you probably leave no witnesses? Also I would tell him that Satan has some good points that should have been raised long ago, and I consider him way less of a tyrant than you.
As a person who earns money or has children and pays for everything do you have the right or any parent to tell their children to act a certain way. Does not God have the right as well to tell us on how to act? Everything belongs to Him, including our breath, our energy,

No. Even accepting the premise of your original question, if god were our father then he would still not be due our automatic obedience. As a grown man, do you unquestioningly obey and agree to every wish of your biological father? Show him respect and listen to his advice by all means, maybe even compromise sometimes to accomodate his point of view but ultimately we grow up and come out from under our parents authority.
As to my last 7 days . . . I'd tell the bastard to hurry up and kill me, I wouldn't want to live 7 minutes under him.
