I'm so sorry for your loss. I can't imagine how heartbroken you must be.
As difficult as it will be, please do not allow this to go without a proper investigation. The circumstances you describe, with the babysitter finding her while your daughter was at work, merit a very thorough investigation.
From what I know professionally of SIDS, this situation does not seem typical for SIDS. I urge you to do some research and insist on having the truth of the matter discovered. If this was not SIDS, then justice needs to be served, for the sake of your granddaughter, and for any other child this babysitter may have under her care in the future.
