No, in fact I disliked the COs that visited back then because they were very fanatically pro FDS pushing such isues as no university education and no criticism of the FDS with great fervour.

NEVER!!!! I didn't even like being around the CO! Never pioneered (despite all the
browbeatingencouragement). Neversuccumbed to guiltvolunteered to work with him or his wife in field service (why should I go out in FS just because he's in town?) Never volunteered any meals for him (why should I cook special meals for them when I don't even have that stuff for myself?). Never made new clothes for the CO visit either.I was a regular Jezebel in my heart.

It depends minimus. Seriously, though, I am the kind of fellow you either love like brother or hate like your worse enemy. Ass-kissing won't make a bit of difference, so I don't do it. I know a fellow from that first congregation who seems to affect people the same way. He has tried to overcome things with the most massive ass-kissing you'll ever see. There is nothing he won't do for the elders, follow people, do whatever dirty little job others won't touch, spread lies for the elders, you name it. And for over thirty years the most he's managed to get was an appointment as an MS for a few years.
Sure, I reached out for a time, we were all encouraged by the leadership to do so. But I never prostituted myself for a little recognition in the congregation. I never played the dirty little games I saw the ass-kissers doing to get ahead. Can you really say that?

I was a loyal, obedient and dutiful JW for three decades.....does that count?

I didn't do any of the things you asked about when it came to being around the COs. I did do what the elders asked of me, simply because I figured I was doing the right thing in the best interests of the congregation. I also wanted to be an MS so I knew that I needed to in order to be appointed.
They can't get me to even come to a meeting now.

My time was in the 70's, pre 75. I thought it was the troof and we were doing Jehobers work. So I wasnt interested in kissing any man ass. But seeing others do it was nauseating.

No. But to the elders, I was a pain in the ass, at least until I left.
