THE GLADIATOR
What do you make of this?
1 Timothy 4:1
[ Instructions to Timothy ] The Spirit clearly says that in later times some will abandon the faith and follow deceiving spirits and things taught by demons.Yes - this is a reference to the fact that in 'the last days' some would leave the Christian faith and become Jehovah's Witnesses.
I was in Rome fighting my corner when these words were written. I tried to reason with the Christians but got more sense out of the lions - they were in touch with reality!

Welcome TLK!
May I ask - how long have you been a Christian?

TLK,
Glad you're here, but this can be a rough site for a born again Christian. We've had a few Christians who can more than hold their own - jgnat and littletoe especially, whom I love like kin - but most of 'em take quite an ass-kicking here.
But please stay. A sense of humor, which you seem to have, is a really big help!

it's only happened the once to me... I threw the last punch (in a loving Christian sort of way)
So, TLK, what is your interest with the JWs ?

Well I think Jehovah is talking about true love, such as this.
16"For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son,[a] that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.
Here is the way to true love.
[ Faith in the Son of God ] Everyone who believes that Jesus is the Christ is born of God, and everyone who loves the father loves his child as well. Can't see that in the NWT or any other translation. I thought the meek would inherit the earth?
Hi BD,
Those words aren't mine but God's.

On the subject of rape, you may feel that the church made it OK but it sure wasn't with God. He doesn't want us to have sex outside of marriage, let along force someone else to have sex.
That said God wants you to forgive so he can forgive you.

The Parable of the Unmerciful Servant
21Then Peter came to Jesus and asked, "Lord, how many times shall I forgive my brother when he sins against me? Up to seven times?"
22Jesus answered, "I tell you, not seven times, but seventy-seven times.[f]
23"Therefore, the kingdom of heaven is like a king who wanted to settle accounts with his servants. 24As he began the settlement, a man who owed him ten thousand talents[g] was brought to him. 25Since he was not able to pay, the master ordered that he and his wife and his children and all that he had be sold to repay the debt.
26"The servant fell on his knees before him. 'Be patient with me,' he begged, 'and I will pay back everything.' 27The servant's master took pity on him, canceled the debt and let him go.
28"But when that servant went out, he found one of his fellow servants who owed him a hundred denarii.[h] He grabbed him and began to choke him. 'Pay back what you owe me!' he demanded.
29"His fellow servant fell to his knees and begged him, 'Be patient with me, and I will pay you back.'
30"But he refused. Instead, he went off and had the man thrown into prison until he could pay the debt. 31When the other servants saw what had happened, they were greatly distressed and went and told their master everything that had happened.
32"Then the master called the servant in. 'You wicked servant,' he said, 'I canceled all that debt of yours because you begged me to. 33Shouldn't you have had mercy on your fellow servant just as I had on you?' 34In anger his master turned him over to the jailers to be tortured, until he should pay back all he owed.
35"This is how my heavenly Father will treat each of you unless you forgive your brother from your heart."
So if you sincerely ask God to help you to forgive the perpetrator, He will make it surprisingly easy for you. Also, He will heal the emotional wounds like they never existed.
With love,
TLKHi purps,
I am here in love, not to offend. Please forgive me if I have offended you in any way.
I too was raised with Biblical teaching, but without the JW influence on my life (save the odd knock at the front door once in a while).
None of us has the answers-only God. Not surprising as He was there in the beginning and knows the end already.
Yes there are only two paths in life-the narrow one to God or the broad road which leads to destruction.
It is good for none of us to judge, as Jesus (who is the judge) says 'judge and you will be judged'.
God loves accepts us as we are. Gay or straight, black or white, rich or poor, yourself, myself and BarbieDoll included. All have sinned and fallen short of His glory. He wants to change us and save us from the consequences of our sin, which is death. All we have to do is ask.
Would it be more loving if God just destroyed us all such as the world in the days of Noah? He is giving us a chance which we don't deserve so grab it with both hands.I was logged off which out requesting this and BB will not allow me to log on as "Jehovah Saves" any more.
I assume someone thinks this is applicable?
NWT 7 “You must not take up the name of Jehovah your God in a worthless way, for Jehovah will not leave the one unpunished who takes up his name in a worthless way.
If so all people with the name "Joshua" are condemned as their name means "Jehovah Saves" from the Hebrew?!I started the second account after I couldn't log in with the first one.
I understand your sentiment. My advise if you have trouble reading the Old Testament then just stick with the New Testament for a while.
Good point! However, Revelation 21 & 22 is what He wants for us all. Well it is simple, God is just and will judge and condemn us unless we choose His free gift of atonement.
Adam & Eve chose to sin and go against God's command-all they had to do was not eat from the fruit of two trees but they couldn't manage that. Similarly, we have all chosen to sin as well. No-one holds a gun at our heads
I agree. Let me know if I am low on a quota of God's love in any area and I will ask him for some more.
Its there already, just need to open the tap even more!
