avoid parents/friends/Elders finding out who or what the situation is?

Do you feel bad for "lying" to ones on here to protect who you really are?

I'm wondering about the ones that are "undercover" and are trying to avoid being found out. How do they get their support and tell their situations without changing too much of the story and without being found out about their belief changes...

Like some of the current Elders or MS that are on here.

Im really lucky, I dont have to hide who I am because theres no-one for me to lose.

An no I dont embelish, its completely true that I have the body of a super model, the personality of a Nobel Peace Prize winner, and the face of an angel.

I don't lie on here, I have met other apostates before that post here on JWD, I have been out many years and my folks don't read the internet.

BTW: If I lie on occasion it's pretty obvious.

Just take a look at my age and country.

I grew up in a family of liars. Some were goof liars and others weren't at all.

I discovered quite young that I wasn't a good liar. I always got caught. So I that lying takes a lot of energy to keep the lie going, especially over a long period of time. And I don't have the energy to keep that going.

It is far easier to just tell the truth. I don't have to wonder what my storyline was. I don't have to be afraid of getting caught.

I do try to avoid certain names - my daughters and their father's names out of consideration for both my daughters. They are no longer involved with the JWs but they do still love their father and I feel I need to respect them.

A further protection for them is that I have legally changed my name, both first and last.

Other than that I type the truth.

I've never lied about anything that REALLY MATTERS in any of my posts.

I may change a few details here and there to provide plausible deniability down the line in case the elders ever come knocking. But never just for the sake of embellishment to make something more sensational. I've let a couple other posters know the kind of things I've fibbed about and they will concur that it wouldn't make a lick of difference to the "spirit of the post".

I highly value the friendships and feedback I've gotten here. I would never want to jeopardize that with dishonesty. There's plenty of that in the JWs.

I really do hope I'll be able to walk free and proud in the bright light of day somewhere in the future.

No. What would be the point of lying?

I do limit details at times to avoid malicious lurkers, but WYSIWYG.
