Sparkplug - Just to clarify, my statement was not correct, it was letters to friends this came from, diaries were not mentioned. It was reported in a CBS news story and a book that is being released. Try google.

Sparkplug - I was being scarcastic. But my friend Joseph, in his delusions, remarks about the abounding kindnesses - and I ask WTF? What a hellhole! "No Lawrence, by His mercies we are provided with abounding blessings in all things." Hey Joseph, how about another brandy?

Whew.. I thought I caught a wiff of that, but making sure. And yes right now it is most assuredly not a balance place. You might give him two fingers worth. Cheers!

I don't think doubting in itself is wrong or affects one's faith negatively. I mean, Prophets and Bible writers doubted too. They even wished to die and once the Watchtower commented that it's "normal" to feel empty, alone, etc because we're human and cited Jonah and others as examples. But yeah, now this news will make it to the WTS and the JW's will use that against religious people who belong to other religions.
Justahuman - but super nonetheless

"Where is my faith?" she writes. "Even deep down … there is nothing but emptiness and darkness. ... If there be God — please forgive me."
A direct quote from her writingsShe was experiencing something called THE DARK NIGHT OF THE SOUL. A simplistic definition can be found in Wikipedia:
Dark Night of the Soul is a term used to describe a specific phase in a person's spiritual life. It is used as a metaphor to describe the experience of loneliness and desolation that can occur during spiritual growth.
The "dark night" could generally be described as a letting go of our ego's hold on the psyche, making room for change that can bring about a complete transformation of a person's way of defining his/her self and their relationship to God. The interim period can be frightening, hence the perceived "darkness". In the Christian tradition, during the "dark night" one who has developed a strong prayer life and consistent devotion to God suddenly finds traditional prayer extremely difficult and unrewarding for an extended period of time. The individual may feel as though God has suddenly abandoned them, or that their prayer life has collapsed.
Rather than being a negative event, the dark night is believed by mystics and others to be a blessing in disguise where the individual extends from a state of contemplative prayer to an inability to pray. Particularly in Christianity, it is seen as a severe test of one's faith.

I remember these stories circulating just a few short years after her death, and that even an exorcism was performed while she was ailing to purge her "disbelief." I guess I'll google this and confirm what I have read about in the past.

If only more people of so-called "Faith" would publicly make us aware of the true nature of their intelligent awareness of the "nothing" at the center of their belief it would enable us to view them as honest rather than lazy wankers hitching a free ride on God's nickel.
I am absolutely certain that if I continually posted this level of abuse against this guy and others who share his viewpoint I would have been banned by now.
How long do we have to put up with this.
He can state his view without being this offensive.
Moderators please . . .

I wonder if this means Christopher Hitchens will now embrace her as an atheistic comrade in arms.
For those who don't know the background, Christopher Hitchens was responsible for casting doubt on Mother Teresa's 'saintliness' saying she was a friend of poverty rather than a friend of the poor. He also wrote the atheist polemic recently called God Is Not Great.
