Did you ever play 'WATCHTOWER HOOKY' ?

Long before we 'figured it out', I think we were tiring of the whole routine and demands, though we could not admit such openly, even to each other for the most part. But I recall occasionally 'oversleeping', and in some cases I had woke early enough but just intentionally let time go by and got up 'running late'. Our family 'tradition' was to stop for breakfast at a local restuarant on the way to the KH. So, even running late, we still would do so at times. Then we would look at the clock and say, 'Well, we can't make the talk now...So let's just slip in for the Watchtower study'.

I think my sub-conscience mind was telling me something even then. Of course I ignored it's subliminal suggestion for decades.

Anyone else ever go truant? Did you smile or frown at such bravery on your own part?

I was working 24 hr shifts as an EMT so I missed alot of meetings. Then I started to miss more but when asked would say I was working. After a while they stopped asking because my answer was always the same. It was a great way to fade. I dumped field service the most since I really, really hated it.

We regularly did this one, always more 'tired' on meeting nights than others!

Now when I remember back that all day on a Tuesday and Thursday were spoiled because I knew that finishing work was just a precursor to the meetings.

I love my life now, and occasionally I get a great reminder, like this morning on my way to breakfast with friends on a gorgeous summer day and spotting the witlesses out in shirts and ties. Wasted years, but they make me appreciate what I have now.

"JW hooky" was one of my favourite activities! Watchtower hooky, Public Talk hooky, Theocratic Ministry School hooky, Service Meeting hooky, Bookstudy hooky, FS hooky, CO visit hooky, District Convention hooky, Circuit Assembly hooky, Memorial hooky ... Ive done them all! Of course it all became easier once I'd moved out, but even in my parents' home I enjoyed playing hooky nonetheless.

Faking not feeling so good so that I could watch Sunday Football instead of listening to crap at the afternoon meeting. The Jets were much more fun and exciting.

    The Claw.

I play Bookstudy Hooky! I slip in right before my folks come home from their bookstudy. No one has said anything to me yet, so the games will continue!

The S&S meetings...I am usually late to those. I come home only a half-hour before the meeting starts, so someone waits around for me to shave, have a shower, etc....

I missed loads of them particularly book study nights! After working fulltime going home and cooking dins etc i'd be worn o ut and i always had a bad back and headaches in those days which was always worse on meeting nights - honest!Anyway i even got spoke to about it several time by several sisters, you know the type that drag themselves there full of germs to pass on to everyone else. Made me so mad i ended up missing th ebook study for a whole year - never understood that Daniel book anyway.

Once the kids came along i missed more, got black looks for taking them there if they were noisy, got told off for taking a couple of cars for them to play with or other non wt things for them to do - hello theyre baby/toddlers they dont want to underline jehovah in every paragaraph !We used to leave after the public talk or first half of other meeting sometimes. Also when i was first married i'd sometimes deliberately start a row with hubby to get out of going - horrible wasn't i!

Yeah, many times I played hooky...even when we had the bookstudy at our home. How did I play "hooky" during the study at my home...I have a bad headache or flu and sit upstairs watching TV with earphones. Our upstairs had 2 full bathrooms. My bedroom was as big as a living room so I had set up a coffee maker and some snacks next to one of the chairs.

We had the bookstudy in our house for over 2 years and by the ending of it, I was getting so sick of it that I missed more and more of them. Either I was upstairs or I was "out" and couldn't get home soon enough for the studies.

Edit: my "bathroom to bedroom"...my bedroom was as big as a living room...not the bathroom...lol
