I can't find my glasses so for a split moment I thought you asked if anyone played Watchtower Hockey. As Gilda Radner would say, never mind.
Did you ever play 'WATCHTOWER HOOKY' ?

I was taking evening classes, and missed many Tuesday and Thursday meetings. I can truthfully say I enjoyed Trigonometry MUCH more than anything I ever heard at the KH.

I would leave at half time and go out to eat, and then come back sometimes after the meeting had ended and act like I was there the whole time. Sometimes I would take someone with me. It was a little tradition between me and my best friends.

While I played my share of wt hooky, it was not enough. I clearly could have increased my hooky threashold. There were more than a few times where the best thing for my sanity was to play hooky.

YES!
I play Hooky all the time. I don't pull the "sick" card anymore because it gets too suspicious after a while, but I will pull the- "Omg, my car isn't working right. OH my God, i almost had an accident!" card all the time.

I had a variety of flimsy excuses. After I moved, I "forgot" to buy a $10 umbrella so I could walk to the Hell, and I "forgot" to call for rides there. Thus, any time it rained or threatened to rain, I would blow off the meeting. Then I intentionally "forgot" to set my alarm clock, so I would miss those meetings (I played hooky when I had a talk, and that was the last talk I ever got).
I had a game of going randomly to two different congregations. I moved across the border and kept not transferring. This really threw them off, since each side assumed I went to the other. Most times, I simply played hooky. Eventually, I started playing hooky at all the meetings. And in 2006, I played hooky at the Crapmorial (I got a Ouija board that day instead of going).

I remember feigning a "migraine" and the delightfully wicked and wonderful feeling slipping out the door after the talk to FREEDOM!!!!!! It would make me positively giddy, like I could take a full breath of air for the first time in hours. Come to think of it, just this last Saturday I was with my son on the way to the park and had stopped for coffee. Of course there was a carload of dubs milling vacuously around in the parking lot and I had the biggest smile on my face as I sipped my latte, opened my sun roof and drove off to enjoy the beautiful day with my little boy!

Wow that brings back memories! Working for the fire department, I had a pretty steady excuse to miss at least 1 meeting per week, due to working 24 hour shifts. And since the shifts rotated days of the week, it was always exciting to look forward to missing something in particular. I never really minded the Sunday talk & Watch-borer, that didn't cut into my day too much or waste too much time. But I detested the weekday meetings. As Poppy said, you would go to work or school, and know you had to come home, clean up, and go straight to a place you detested. I truly appreciate my freedom. Every once in a while, I'll think about what I'll get into on a Tuesday or Thursday night, and laugh that my parents are still trudging along like the good sheep that they are doing it!
