Does this mean you'll be able to put the wheelchair in storage? I hope so.

I don't think so. There seems to be an underlying problem. If I have no burning pain and walk too far the other problem kicks in and makes walking impossible (like walking on a bed of sharp rocks). And DRs can't find any reason for that either - except for the structure of my feet (very high arch and very high instep as well as Morton's Toe (second toe is longer than the big toe)

I will be happy if the new meds just lower the burning pain so I can sleep. If I'm not sleeping it becomes harder to cope with the other problems.

I don't remember who suggest EM but I want to thank them.

That is so great..It's a shame it takes them so long to find a med that helps.

I too had RLS for years..didn't know what it was and neither did the Dr I went to.(Neurologist ) He prescribed Amtrypteline?(SP). When I noticed it was for seizures I refused to take it. I just suffered. Hubby couldn't understand why I could no longer go on long car rides unless I fell asleep until we got where we were going..even then I would wake up crazy.

Funny thing is it didn't bother me if I was driving or walking but let the legs be still and...

I noticed they have new meds out for it now and I am sure the Drs. are aware of the problem now. But it has slowed down a lot and I'm trying to see if any foods trigger it.Anyone you talk to (that doesn't have RLS ) says it is from poor circulation..but that has been proven to be false.

I hope your meds keep working for you and maybe someday they will find a reason for the problem..

Snoozy..who just found out our Walmart and Target stores have generic prescriptions for $4. and $5. dollars..

amytriptiline is an anti-depressant. One of the known side-effects is that it dulls pain in many people

Gagapentin and Lyrica are both anti-convulsants. So I thought it was strange that they would prescibe it for me. But it was descibed to me this way.

When a person has a seizure the abnormal activity is in the head.

When it is nerve nerve pain the abnormal activity happens in the nerve site - in my case my feet. But it also seems to work for shingles, trigeminal neuralgia, diabetic neuropathy and peripheral neuropathy (the one that affects me).

If it works I don't care what its original use was.

The Lyrica for me was great for two weeks but then the pain was back and I became very unsteady on my feet - staggering around and using the walls to steady myself. Then my left arm started to jump uncontrollingly. A small tremor is one thing but to see your arm jumping around 8-12 inches - that was freaky so I stopped them. I was on the lowest dosage so I didn't have to wean myself off them.

I don't want to be in a situation where I have to take other meds to deal with the side-effects of the pain meds.

Thanks for all the crossed body parts but if you all start typing funny we will know why

I used to take that for migraines.. it was also what I tried to OD on back in 2000..

I'm glad you still seem to be getting some relief Lee... I hope it continues..
