I have one and use it for both wet and dry. It gets pricey since you have to keep buying the cloths.

A couple of weeks ago I was in Sears and they were having a demonstration of a swiffer type mop but you didn't have to throw awy the cloths. Simply remove from the cloth and throw it in the washer. What they use for cloths are those microfiber cloths. But their system was pricey.

    So I got thinking

What if I bought the microfiber cloths and used that on my Swiffer handle.

You know what - it works.

No more cloths to throw out. And the microfiber clothes are easily bought at dollar stores

    I now have a micro-swiffer

    Yes, I love my swiffer!

I use those, too. Better to be a lazy cleaner than a lazy non-cleaner.

    good idea, I'll try it-

the disposable wet cloths are STINKY. they will infiltrate your entire house.

I've been using microfibre cloths for a long time. I keep one hanging in my shower to give the tiles a wipedown every day and keep the soap scum from accumulating. I use another one with my mop for the floors, and another for cleaning countertops, sinks and chrome.

Supposedly you can use the microfibre cloths alone, without any chemicals or cleaning solutions, which makes up for the higher cost of the cloths in the long run. However, I find that I kind of enjoy the scent of a freshly cleaned house once in a while, which the cloths don't accomplish for me.

Just remember to let the microfibre cloths air dry after washing because putting them in the dryer with fabric softener makes them lose their effectiveness. If you find they get stiff from lack of fabric softener, just rinse them in a dilute solution of water and white vinegar and they'll stay nice and soft. (I use white vinegar as a fabric softener substitute for one of my family members who gets rashes from fabric softener.)

The microfiber cloths also work wonderfully for wood floors. Use the special cleaners for wood floors. No streaking; just a nice shiny floor.

^ excellent information Scully which I found works very good

the way the person in the store described how microfibers work is that each strand is made with tiny hooks that trap the dirt and dust.

that explains why they stick to my skin when they are too dry and need hand lotion
