It would be a big thing for them to loose, I wonder if it would result in the relocation of the branch to another country.
The US has strict equal opportunity laws, if this was to happen there it would rock the WTS to the core.

What a pity the tidbit wasn't about the Crooklyn Beth-Hell. They would've had to allow other races into the GB right? That would be sooo interesting.
Too bad JW women in the USA don't start realizing their constitutional rights. What a bunch of 17th century dimwits they are. I am always amazed at the progression of women in the ministry in other Christian churches while the JWs stay in the dark ages.
Hi All
Unfortunatly I cannot give you much more information yet, will try and get some more information from Dear Sister as soon as possible but I need to make it not look so obvious - her and I talk very little as I mentioned in my first post, so two calls in two days might be a bit weird.I have tried to quiz my mom too, but to no avail. Both my mom and my sister are not fountains of information about this, they seem to be not clued up with the details. Essentially what it boils down to is that Bethal is a sweat shop and they have gotten away without paying taxes and paying their "employees" UIF and so on, and the goverment wants it to stop.
As another poster said, this is the major HQ for Africa and I am not sure where they would move if thing actually comes to pass. SA is probably the most advanced and modern country in Africa. The Bethal here is huge and would cost a fortune to move.
BTW My sister also told me that they are on a huge marketing drive (I can't remember her terminology) and they are having an "open day" soon where they are inviting all the surrounding business and neighbours to come and see what they are about... like they believe that if people see Bethal then they will be instantly convinced of the truth or something?
What annoys and frustrates me more than anything (and forgive for stating the obvious - I know we all feel like this) is that she (and so many others) just don't question anything - like why the hell can't women be in charge or at the very least be in positions of leadership.
It would not only rock the JWS, it would rock almost every religion in the US. When was the last time you saw a woman holding a leadership position in any religion? Threestars, what other christian churches are you amazed at that have done this?
This is huge news, even if Bethel wins the case.
As I said in my pm, I can't find anything online. Do you have freedom of information laws whereby the government releases court documents to citizens upon request? Have you seen any news of this in the media? Please pass on anything you can.
I was wondering if it might be passable for you to call your sis in a week or two and tell her you are really curious about the court case--then swallow your vomit for a moment and say, "because this is Satan's government attacking God's organization, right? And I was wondering how the case is going. It is just such a significant issue, you've got me thinking about it."
Maybe it would set a precedence. Other countries could then follow suit!!!
South Africa branch. I know the the head huncho there. Frans Muller for many years.
Interesting....I would like to know more. Who is in South Africa on this board?
The Methodists have women ministers. I attended a church called the Unity Church for a time and it had quite a few women in high positions. Also, I can't remember the name, but a funeral I attended for a pastor of a local church a speaker that was the equivalent of a JW District Overseer, and she was definitely a woman. This was a fairly fundamental Christian church, too.
