What affected you more, growing up in the cult, or a dysfunctional family?

because my family was dysfunctional I was able to join a cult.

The religion is so much a part of the fabric of three generations of my family history that cause and effect are hard to put in sequence. Shunning education, refusing military service, blood transfusion issues, a negative outlook on real life, having to judge and pigeonhole everything and everybody based on the current WT, refusal to recognize or seek help for mental illness, forced shunning of loved ones, and it goes on and on....
