No, because the way they criticized other churches for passing around a collection plate, I thought it was a sin. Seriously, in the last hall I attended, we had three boxes we were expected to put money in, one for the worldwide work, one for the kingdom hall fund, and one for the local congregation.

I didn't give cash, but once I bought a couple of brooms and dust pans because the ones there were in such bad shape. I saw how wasteful the elders were with money spent on renovations, and that's the reason I would not give them cash. Naturally, the elders assumed I always had "financial problems", and mentioned it to me a few times, but my reason for not donating was because of their irresponsible use of other people's money.

It seems as if the society is always wanting money. The local congregations have need of monies for utilities etc. They also want money to pay the society back for the hall at a low interest rate of course, but that sucks due to fact the money loaned them for the construction remodel of the hall was donated to the society for such things no for them to make even more money off of. It seems that at the hall my spouse attends, that they are always wanting money for something either the donations to the www aren't encough or they need more $$$ for the local hall needs etc. It is never ending, just follow the $$$ and that is what the society seems to be all about now days.

It always used to puzzle me that money we sent to Bethel for Kingdom Hall Fund (for building new or renovating KH). When we asked for funds to build a new KH. They gave is a loan from the fund, at 6% interest. So our own money we gave them , was loaned back to us plus interest. Which they probably made interest on keeping it in the bank.

As others have said they boast about "no collections" at meetings. Yet ask for money and have boxes for this and that.

Every month there would be the accounts report read out at the service meeting.

"Brothers/Sisters we need to meet the needs of the congregation. It was difficult to pay the latest gas/electric bill. So please think of your obligations to the congregation. (pause) We sent £250 to the worldwide work, £130 to Kingdom Hall fund, £100 towards Circuit Assembly, £100 to cover Circuit Overseers expenses."

Thats why I stopped donating anything.

I had a long talk with 2 teenage sisters and their aunt today(pioneers) AND IT STARTED ABOUT CONTRIBUTIONS... ABOUT 3 BLOCKS FROM A LOCAL KINGDUMB HALL AND WE ALL WENT TO THE HALL LIBRARY. TO LOOK UP SOME GOODIES . I TAUGHT THESE GIRLS AND TEST WHAT I WAS SAYING IS TRUE.! ALONG WITH 4 ELDERS, WHO I MADE THE GIRLS SEE THESE ELDERS DIDN'T KNOW THEIR ASS FROM ELBOW. BUT I WILL NOT TELL THE STORY HERE. BECAUSE JWD MODORATORS HAVE BANNED ME FROM STARTING ANY NEW TOPICS. SO I WILL ENJOY MY VICTORY ALL BY MY SELF. JOHNNY CIP

When I was a witnoid back in the 60's and 70's. The Wac Tower was always ranting about how they never passed the collection plate like Christendom. So I think that position cultivated and encouraged a cheapskate attitude among the congregation.

I thought for a minute that this might be Gods organization because they dont care about money or material things.

I probably put something in the box a few times but since I was raised a witnoid, I didnt have much to give. Chump change.

Unfortunately yes, we donated money. At first, we did. But as time went on and we got poorer and poorer (due to the fact that we were taken advantage of financially by a couple who wanted us to buy their business - long story), we quit donating.

It always irked me when they would read a motion for us to "vote" on using KH money to help pay for 'expenses related to the CO visit'. I never understood it - we drove them in our cars in service, so no gas money needed. We arranged almost every meal for them, so very little money was needed for food. They stayed at the little attached apartment during their visit. Why did we have to "vote" to pay for other expenses every blasted time they came?

It also bothered me a great deal when they would read a letter from the GB stating they needed donations for helping to pay for health insurance for all the CO's and DO's. Meanwhile, at that time LDB and I and our son didn't have any health insurance at all. We couldn't afford it. But did anyone ever offer to help us? Ha ha.

I already donated my life to those bastards so they never got any of my money. Just my soul, my childhood and my dreams. What a waste.
