I was lucky enough to hear George Gershwin conduct and play his OWN Rhapsody in Blue. No, I wasn't THERE! I'm not that old! I heard an old recording of it. Let me say this: it was far faster and far jazzier than any other version I've heard since.

I like almost everything that you all have listed, except Gershwin's Rhapsody in Blue which is incredibly boring. So is American in Paris. I like Mozart, I like cello music, I like things like "O Sacred Head Now Wounded" and "The Swan." I've got to bookmark this page so I can listen to ALL the links. One of my problems is that in 25 years as a massage therapist I have listened to a very wide variety of classical music while working, but I never learn the names of anything, so when people ask me what I'm listening to I look like an idiot because I don't know.

Many, many years ago I heard PDQ Bach playing Bach. It was hilarious. This is all I could find. There are some funny moments in it but nothing like the version I heard. I'm sure it's not easy what they are doing, but then I wouldn't know.
