Um, sorry that just came out.
You must be using Firefox. This site does not work exceptionally well with that browser.
The workaround is to uncheck the "HTML formatting" box, and check the "Automatic Cr/Lf" box before hitting "Submit Post". The line breaks and paragraphs should remain intact if you do that.
