    Wow! Welcome to JWD.

You really gave your family a two-fer!

First an "Apostate". Then a "CATHOLIC".

    Ewwwww.

Couldn't get much worse in the eyes of most dubs.

BTW, there's a talk show host in my area who used to be a Catholic priest and who is still a Catholic. He takes all sorts of public stands against official Church dogma, but since he's no longer a priest, the Church leaves him alone. He feels he's doing good by working for reform from within.

    ARE YOU LISTENING BROOKLYN???!!!???

I know it's a waste of electrons. Just venting.

Once again, welcome, and I look forward to your posts.

I have friends in Mexico City that take me to their local churches and their bassillica. I am aware that both religions , people are pushed into the religion whether they like it or not. The difference is that you can attend a catholic church whenever you want, and your family will always love you. I don't know if they shun if you convert, but they do not hassle anyone if you are infrequent or simply stop. I believe there is not ime cards either.

An obvious similarity is that there are pedophiles in both beliefs, but the Catholics admit it and deal with it.

The other difference is that I see local folks (mexican) coming and have a humble, but proud appearance. I see no arrogance. Just hope. I was never judged by my physical appearance. (Being a green eyed Canadian).

I however have never been in a Hall, so I will not judge those inside. Now on the outside....... .

If you are interested in finding a way out, or have questions about the organization please contact me. I am a member of the Old Catholic Church of North America, our beliefs are slightly different from the Roman church, which is explained on our website. As we allow our priests to have a spouse, family and a life outside of the walls of the church, I am able to say that if an elder were to have a calling to still serve as a pastor or leadership role in the church, we would be happy to accept you, and after a period of time (1-3 years depending on pastoral experience, knowlege (both liturgical and theological), and time available to devote to the church, with subject to the local Bishop of course) ordain you into the priesthood, diaconite or one of the minor orders.

Mouthy, he is NOT Roman Catholic. Some of the things you went on about are things his church does not practice.

Birth control, priests not marrying etc...etc...etc...etc...

If you want to launch into something against the Catholics fine whatever, but before you do it on this guy's first freaking thread find out what he believes and teaches.
