I fired myself from HomeDepot in July. Does that count? Don't waste your time if you need work. Poorly paid incompetent boobs.

Greetings littlerockguy,
I was out with one of my employees yesterday. He turned a simple project into a mess. All the way home I was thinking of firing his ass. Then I did as the Apostle Paul... and drank a bunch of red wine. He's still working. Close, but "no cigar".

Since you had to fire her anyway why didn't you try to coerce her for sexual favors? Seems like a wasted firing.

Littlerock did you at least sit her down and tell her that her employment would have to go under consideration before you fired her ?
It may have been a situation where she was unaware that her employment was in fact in jeopardy, circumstances do occur like this at times

I recall being an employee who had to work with someone who slept on the job. the manager was afraid to fire them. I lost all respect for management .

She sounded either depressed or she had a problem with drugs/alcohol. Not your problem now.

LRGuy...
You did the right thing! I have never been in the position to fire some one but would have loved to! People who are continually late on the job cheat in other areas too. They don't get to work and get started. The usual behaivor is flitting about the office, getting coffee, eating something at their desk and then settle down to work about 10:00 to 10:30am. In the mean time others have been working for an hour or two and get to feeling angry and cheated because the boss doesn't get it.
The big cheat is that if they know their bosses don't get in until later, take advantage until that time, and then stay late. The boss thinks "What a dedicated employee!" I have seen it over and over again.
I am a firm on time person, and every boss I ever had said they could set their watch by me. In fact I was always on the job early but never stayed a minute later than I needed to.
Constant lateness is a passive agressive problem, which affects all employees.
Congrats to you for insisting on what the employee originally agreed to~!!!! FIRE AWAY!!

Has anyone else noticed a general trend that those who complain about doing all the work are the ones who are doing the least?

I fired someone about a month ago. She cried, that was a little weird. Although she was on a probation period didnt make it any easier. Im in management and thats part of my job. (very small part)
In our corperate office many heads would roll if talking was a fire-able offense. Im not talking about chit-chat here and there. But people hanging out talking and BS-ing a good half of the day then complain they have some much to do. I dont get it.
