Canada's first president was a duck! Why else would it be on their $1 coin? I learned that on the Colbert Report.

I don't drink Budweiser, zeroday.
Anheuser-Busch is in serious trouble.
I prefer a good IPA from many of the smaller independent US breweries.
But I agree that the Japanese-owned Sleeman's/Sapporo has some fine offerings.
Molson is owned by Coors( US).
Labatts is owned by Interbrew( Belgium).
It will be interesting to see what effect the currency fluctuation will have on the import/export of alcoholic beverages between the neighbors.

Ale and beer are close enough. LOL!
It was actually Sierra Nevada IPA that I had in mind.

REBORNAGAIN
I only know it's bringing more & more Canadians into Washington State for some fantastic shopping deals. It hasn't stopped the truckers from coming across the border. The truckers from up there are awful on the freeways. I don't know where they got their drivers license. I think from Wal-Mart.

REBORNAGAIN
to my Canadian friends. It's only them truckers who are bad on the road. The majority come from India. If that's the reason? They always pull out into the passing lane right in front of a fast moving vehicle, go slow and try to pass up someone, by going 1km/h faster than, then cause a traffic jam in the passing lane and then decide they can't attempt the pass after all and pull back over. What's that all about? A lot of time these truckers will pass up other BC truckers and are driving side by side. Smiling at each other maybe?
Sorry, I know this got into another discussion.

Homerovah the Almighty:
Has the US dollar lowered itself against other moneys around the world ?
Oh yes! We in Euroland can currently get $1.42 for our euro. Five years ago the two currencies were at parity. The quaint old British pound is worth over two dollars, compared to about $1.57 five years ago.

I think this is an intentional manipulation to make swallowing the idea of an Amero unit of money more palatable for the U.S. voting population.

C'mon, HS, you and I both know that the economy is as fake as a two-dollar coin (evil-grin). It is based solely on public perception of value; i.e. the dollar—any "dollar"—will not buy more or less than consumer confidence permits.
It is all smoke and mirrors. The relative values attached to various elements of "the economy" are all perception-based and are therefore entirely subjective. Entities skilled at manipulating public perception have been controlling perceptions about "the economy" for centuries; to the point that few even bring themselves to admit that the economy doesn't actually exist.
There will be an "Amero" eventually. Globalization requires it. The question becomes, not whether, but, when? When public perception permits it.
Respectfully,
AuldSoul
