This is another excellent thread to show JWs right from their own literature, that things are not as peachy as they would seem to be in Watchtowerland. This is the the type of things that they don't like to talk about---OR have others know.

I'm afraid she's going to see the dates on the publications and tell me that's old light...they don't believe that anymore. What should I say?

I would break the bad news to her very gently, otherwise she might go insane when she realises that she has accpeted this swill all her life.

Make her be the one to prove it by showing you some of the NEW on this subject.

Exactly, and if she can show you new light in writing, then ask her who changed their mind on this--Was it God, was it the Watchtower? Ask her if there is anything else she sees changing in the future to become new light? Is their any other issue she thinks will change in the future?

Why do you ask such hard questions, Dave?

You know how it affects cognitive dissonance.

    What

will happen to young children at Armageddon?

The Bible does not directly answer that question, and we are not the judges. However, the Bible does show that God views the young children of true Christians as "holy." (1 Cor. 7:14) It also reveals that in times past when God destroyed the wicked he likewise destroyed their little ones. (Num. 16:27, 32; Ezek. 9:6) God does not want anyone to be destroyed, so he is having a warning sounded now to benefit both parents and children. Would it not be wise for parents to pursue a course that would result in their children being looked on with favor by God both now and at Armageddon?

this quote is from the reasoning book which they all carry in their door to door bags

If you read the other post I had on it (above) it has recent articles on the subject....and it does seem that they have softened the wording they use.

Here's the thing Oppgirl, even with the new light on this subject, the WT could very well change their mind again and post something more harsh next year, or next month, or at anytime.

Old light has become new light, has reverted back to old light and the cycle repeats itself.

The shunning thing is the best example of this. There was a time a few years ago when they softened up and had new light, then all of a sudden--poof, new light, you must now shun your family members once again.

They are a devious bunch, that is for sure.
