Another money saving idea

A while ago someone here asked about money saving ideas for food. I told him about the SHARE food program which I used in California but was unable to find the program here in Indiana. I recently found it here but the host location was too far to make it economically feasible. Someone told my husband about Angel Food Ministries, which is very similiar to SHARE and had more host sites near me. Here's the site if anyone is interested:

Thanks, Josie. I found someone in my area. It's a little ways off, but I think it'll be worth the drive.

If I place my order on the 15th of October, I can pick up on the 17th of November. I can't wait to see what I'll be getting.

    Thanks again.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but it sounds like this is for underpriviledge or needy families? I think I would feel like I'm taking something from someone who needs it more. Maybe I read it wrong!

I'm not rich but I use coupons to save money when it come to groceries. Sometimes I go to 3 or 4 different stores just to get their buy one get one free or other bonus sale items. Have to be carefull with meat thou, they usually mark up the price to something crazy. Kroger has a 50% of sale on chicken breasts, so I go and check it out a package of 3 boneless skinless breasts total price 12.89 marked down to 6.00. I laughed all the way out of the store.

    Hey Ex,

No, it's for anyone (poor and needy to middle class) who needs a little help in the food budgeting area. Angel Ministries is slightly different from SHARE (which requires that it's participants do a hour of volunteer service - that can be anything from helping someone to serving meals at a soup kitchen for the homeless.) but both programs are pretty cool and for everyone. I liked SHARE, the food was great and from what I've read Angel has the same quality of food. I've missed the cutoff date for this month in my area but I plan to do it next month.

No location near me so I made a donation.

I am underprivileged and needy. I suffered a nervous breakdown in 2005 and had to file for Chapter 13 to avoid foreclosure on my home.

I was put on antidepressants and anti-anxiety meds for my depression and panic attacks. If I didn't have an understanding and caring boss, I would have been fired a long time ago because I simply couldn't function. He outfitted a little area just for me and told all his men if they got on my nerves he would personally kick their butts. Only he didn't say "butts."

I am grateful for any and all assistance. I think back to when I was hale and hearty and always donated to worthy causes. I'm soooo glad I didn't let the WTS stance on giving to charities influence me.

I looked into one in my area - in local grocery stores you can donate a box of food $25.00 and they will give it to a family in need. So I donated.

I didn't mean it as a put down, just wanted to make sure I was understanding it. I'm only a couple of pay check away from being "needy" myself. For now I'll continue to donate, but nice to know it exists!

Sylvia - I'm glad your boss looked out for you. So many employers kick you right out the door when all you need is a little time and understanding to get back on your feet. Hang in there!

That's not so much a money saving idea as a charity. You're not saving money at all, you're just using other people's.
