I agree. I think the unborn baby is deserving of justice. So sad. Unfortunately, the leading cause of death for a pregnant woman is murder.

There was a case like that here in my area early this year.In June a woman went missing leaving her 2 year old son home alone. She was 8 months pregnant. Her name was Jesse Davis. Her baby was a little girl.I forget what her name was going to be.Cloe I think.

Two weeks later her body was found in a national park a few miles from her home. Her boyfriend and a friend of his were arrested. He was charged with 2 counts of murder and the friend with abuse of a corpse x 2.He was a cop.

In Ohio if you kill a pregnant woman and the fetus dies or you kill her fetus and the mother lives it's murder.Doesn't matter if the child was born alive or not.Doesn't matter if the child could have lived or not it's murder. Also if a pregnant woman takes drugs while pregnant she can be charged with child abuse.

When I was in my undergraduate, I took Sociology. My professor specialized in domestic violence studies. He shared with us some of his study's findings.

A woman was much more likely to be physically abused by her spouse while she was pregnant. The upcoming change in the family structure & economics can put some men (particularly those with low self esteem) at great unrest. The stress of worrying about the new addition, yields some men over the brink. Being pregnant is a common denominator in every country as far as when abuse will start. Just when women need men most, the men sh** on them.

Another thing he shared was how domestic violence is fueled by the society we live in, but it does not matter whether the husband was rich or poor. In Muslim countries where women are treated as property, the incidence of domestic violence was unbearable. It's absolutely acceptable for hubands to beat their wives in public.

Finally, what I remember most was that...while women are the "majority" in the world, we have allowed ourselves to be abused, beaten, etc. Why?

the accused lived with his wife and his parents. Police said he was a carpenter by trade, but was currently not working.

Could be as simple as that.

    It's horrible, to be sure.

How terrible, I also agree he should be charged with two murders. I cant believe anybody could do such a thing

It is disgusting, he should be charged with murder of the baby, an eight month old baby is completely viable outside of the womb, as another poster mentioned. I cannot believe he isn't be prosecuted for this crime.

However, on the abortion front, sorry, but I totally disagree with some of the comments. I know personally of a young girl who was BRUTALLY RAPED and became pregnant, at 14!!! She was a virgin before the attack and was not doing anything because of a "feel good" mentality. Her parents discussed it with her and they decided on an abortion. Do I consider her a murderer? Hell NO! Do I believe anyone on this planet has the right to judge that child for having an abortion or her parents for giving consent, HELL NO! Until you walk a mile in someone else's shoes, talk is cheap. Murder of an unborn viable fetus and abortion of an embryo are not the same thing. IMO.

Sorry BB, I know it wasn't the point of the thread.

I hope I don't appear to condone what he did.

I think he was probably suffering some sort of mental breakdown.

Mental health issues need more attention.

sweetstuff - no problem. I knew the abortion thing would come up with this topic. I totally feel for the girl you mentioned. I don't know what I would do in her situation, nobody could until they are there, but it's good to know that I would have that option.

nvr - I understood what you were getting at. He certainly was in a stressful situation, and stress can make people do all sorts of things (not condoning what he did either, just saying).

I hear what you are saying...

    but would any of you,

even under extreme stress ever even think you could be capable of plunging a knife your pregnant wife's belly,

(for the women, pretend you are the husband)

with the intent to murder your own unborn child?

I know I wouldn't, no matter how stressed I was. It would never even cross my mind to do it.

I bet he fantasized about doing it...then in a fit of emotional rage, fufilled his fantasy.

He had to of PURPOSELY grabbed a knife, and thought out exactly where he wanted to stab his wife with it.
