How many of you had book studies held in your home?

My ex and I did for several years in our new home. I was excited at first because that meant we were "good" dubs. After about 6 months someone stuck their finger in our candle we had burning in the bathroom and splashed wax all over our new bathroom wall. Many of the kids were not well behaved and would run up and down the stairs. After a year of it I got fed up with all the inconsiderate slobs and put a gate on the stair way and took all the candles out or the space they would be around.

The next year I was getting so sick of people coming into the house that I "missed" the Tuesday meetings and watched Charmed in my bedroom.

So if you've had the "privileged" to host a book study, what was your pet peeves about the guests that came?

Never did as an adult. Always heard horror stories similar to your experience and never wanted the committment. As a child we had a bookstudy at home for a few years. Don't remember much except that my father always complained that one woman would always come to the bookstudy and spend the hour in the bathroom.

I did. Brand new carpetting too and one sister came in with muddy shoes and walked around and after a few min. said, "Oh, did I do that? Sorry!" Everyone else had the decency and kindness to take their shoes off. BTW, I also had a meeting for FS in my home as well, once a week.

Yeah, that happened to with our new carpet. I made the mistake of getting light carpet as well. The stain never did come out.

NY, I don't think I'd ever volunteer my house again if I ever get a new house in the future because of all the horror situation. When a house is freshly built or you've put time into remodeling it only to have people screw it up, it's not worth it.

I don't have my house now but I plan on getting my own cute little cottage type house and it will be mine and not for sharing...lol

We had them in our home when our children were little. Clyde conducted.

When we moved to another area, we had a book study in our home for a short time--another conductor. By this time, Clyde was fading. We were studying the Revelation book and he commented to me that all did was glorify the Faithful and Discreet Slave. One night he left the room as the study was beginning, and didn't come back. It wasn't long before the study was moved.

I also had the book study in my home, and folks met at my house for field service on Saturday. Hmmmm I think that mostly they were well behaved...I just got sick of people in my house all the time.

We did, too. It felt like the home was no longer mine. They'd change meeting for field service times, add days, meet back after lunch, just like it was a kh. I can't remember when or why we stopped or it was moved.

As a child we had the book study at our house. As an adult I don't think I was a good enough example in the congregation to get the "privilege".....

Oh yeah, I forgot about field service. Yuck. Ours was moved because *I* seemed to miss a lot of Tuesday meetings...lol. I was actually happy when it was moved.

Don't feel too bad MC...I think we weren't good enough examples either. I think it was because we seemed to be popular because we didn't have children for a long. After our kids came into the picture then is when we started not being as popular. Our son was very VERY little when we had the book study.

When I lived at home we had the BS at our house for around five years. We had cattle and our living room bay window faced one of the pastures. One night Our bull was getting romantic with one of our hiefers less then thirty feet out side the window during the BS. That was by far the funniest memory I have about BS's. We never had any property damage and very few small children but we did have live bovine porn.
