Raises hand!!! Because the elder thought that my hubby could listen & come into the "lie"
Well it worked my hubby started to attend the meetings,Heard the talk that said he should be head of the house.... And took over the financial aspect of the home, ordered me to work which I did...Then he bought a new car on credit, couldnt pay the bills , had to go bankrupt..... Then handed it back to me & said "you look after it" Which I did ---but he didnt bother to go to any more meetings, preferred his Hockey!!!!! I got us out of debt.... & when he was dying he mentioned this very sermon. He said he realized he was not Clever enough to be the head of the house. I had to explain he should not feel like he was not worthy....He was clever in other area's
So they stole his self confidence NO MORE BOOK STUDY IN THE HOME>>>>He died before I was kicked off the ARK>>>>>> Poor Frank..... What a life !!!! married to a full fledged JW,....judgemental, pushy, NOW you know why I cant "kick the Bucket" he is sitting up there Begging whoever is guarding the Gates "Dont let her in PLEASE it is heaven without her

Growing up we had the BS at our house. I hated putting out and then taking down the damn chairs! No one else would help. One lady would always use the bathroom and would never flush the toilet. My brother 2 years older than me, put a note above the toilet paper roll that said "please flush and wash your hands", dad was not happy!

wha happened?
My ex and I had a BS in our home. For the most part people behaved and we always had beverages and snacks afterwards. What did annoy me was one week I was running late so I had no time to run out and load up the kitchen. Afterwards when everyone realized there was no grub it took about 30 seconds for everyone to clear out. I was annoyed so I did the same the following week. Same result. I never was hospatible again.
Soon afterwards, my then father in law the PO put everyone in the family together in the same BS. It was hell. No one really liked the other family members and it was unbearable as everyone glared at each other for an hour. After one to many family incidents I requested that the BS be moved out of my house.

We sometimes had the book study at our place when I was a child. I thought it was really nice, because we did not have to leave the house and it did not take a long time to get home againg because we already were there.
I grew up in a small cong, so it was only around 9-12 people at our book study. The people in our cong were nice and did not destroy anything as far as I can remember.
Here in Norway we always remove our shoes in the hallway before we enter the living room. We sometimes bring our own slippers, but never walk into the house with our outdoor shoes.
So the carpets (if there are any) are not being messed up.
And of course, when the book study finished I could go to my room and change clothes :-)
My mom made me at least wait until the guests had left (unless someone stayed a little longer for supper), but I always ripped off my skirts and put on the trousers pretty fast.

yep... I did when I was an MS...quite a few years back..
My house at the time was a converted storefront in a residential neighborhood separated from the landlords residence on the same corner lot. The front door was a tall wooden door with large plate glass window and blinds covering that) Tall ceilings....15 feet... Maybe...maybe ....500 square feet, probably less. It was about 15 feet wide and 30 feet long. It had 3 "rooms" (areas is probably a better word)... Front room took up the front 2/3 of the house and was my living room, bedroom, and office. Couch was a hide-a-bed. Had a pass through to the kitchenette...which was maybe 5 feet wide by 10 feet long....and a back bathroom that was barely big enough for a toilet, sink, and shower... the folding chairs were stored in the back entrance way by the bathroom. .... It was onstreet parking, and we were across the street from a church....I give you this description so this story makes more sense
We used to have a BS in that little bitty house. ...so sometimes they brothers had to compete for parking if the church had something going on...esp. on Saturday.... (man they were spoiled, if they had to walk more than 1/2 block, they were upset....guess you can tell we dont live in the big city... lol)...
I was working the night shift (10pm-2am) at UPS at the time, and I often did not get home until after 3am... so Saturday morning FS at my house sucked....but I was a good little dubbie MS "reaching out"...so I put up with it.... one particular Saturday morning, I must not have gotten to sleep until 5 am.... so when there was a loud knock at my door I had the crap scared out of me....as my hideabed was right next to the door (as was everything...so small the space), that it was a rather rude awakening.... I hurriedly peeked out the blinds and seen about 15 people (the entire damn group)...waiting to be let in... I threw on a robe (cause that would have given the elderly publishers a heart attack seeing me in my usual nighttime attire ....LOL.)...
I profusely apologized but told them they could not meet this morning because I was still in bed....can you believe they still wanted in?...Where was I going to go? Hide in the bathroom while they had the meeting for Field Circus? Despite my being a bachelor, the house was picked up and everything was clean as I always did that on Friday night...but still!!!! I told them no and they would have to meet outside...the weather was nice fall weather.......so there should have been no problem... they ended up doing that...shortest FC meeting ever.... LOL
...oh....I guess they didn't like being stared at by the parishoners across the street wondering why 15 people were knocking on the door of such a tiny house... LMAO....
I think I had the group taken out of my house shortly after at my request.....

PS....at least my house stayed clean all the time.....

Honesty
I offered to have it held in my home but the brothers respectfully declined for some strange reason...

We had the BS in our house at one time, and never again, No kids my childrens ages, just old people, (60+) no one ever helped set up or take down and the FS on Saturday was the same way until I told them no more Saturdays at my house, it just wasn't going to happen anymore. They didn't undertand why, but then the didn't need too, they just needed to not show up. Some of the attendees always showed up 30 + minutes in advance and needless to say got in the way. On goody night it was mostly always our goodies everyone helped themselves too. The only good thing about it was we didn't dilly dally around with the paragraphs. We got thru them and then did the bible reading for the week and a lot of the times, we were able to finish the 3-4 chapters of the weekly bible reading. Now no way ever again will I allow a BS to be held in our house.

troubled mind
We did for eight years . We had a great group several elderly ones that told good stories . Families with a few kids . We were pretty close bunch .Took turns bringing snacks and sometimes the conductor would stay after to help put chairs away .
During that time I got pregnant with my youngest and had terrible morning sickness for five months .I had two very young children so it was nice not having to leave the house on meeting nights .When the baby was born it was good to be able to put him to bed instead of keeping him up so late.
A few years into it I had a extreme depression episode and I would have appreciated a break . The kids and I would have to move all the furniture in the dining room to make room to put up the meeting chairs .I spent a whole month of meetings in my room ,finally the conductor took the group into his home for awhile . Then we bought our own home and it was to small to accomadate the study anymore.
