IMO it is impossible to have been in the wt cult and not be left with personality defects (term borrowed from AA).
We are all in different stages of healing in that regard, me included. :)

Being organised is always advantageous to having individuals exerting their efforts in isolation. For whatever reasons, the ex JWs though they are so numerous have never managed to organise anything of substance to cordinate and direct their efforts against the WTS.
When the unorganised fight against the organised they can't have much impact. In the case of ex JWs only a non religious organisation would work. -

Wanting to expose an organization, ANY organization, for significant wrongs does not equate to *not getting over it*. I'm sure that the many, many victims of pedophilia or folks who lost loved ones to blood issues would appreciate hearing that helpful remark as much as I did. Seems to me you need to get the *f* over yourself.
Bisous, this thread is not about "exposing" any organization. It is about getting financially compensed for what the posters here feel that the WTS has "stolen from their lives". News flash...everyone here has a brain and if you CHOOSE not to use it, you are just as much to blame as any individual or organization that takes advantage of you. Granted there are those of us who were raised as a JW and were forced from infancy to attend the meetings and work in field service, so we really didn't get a choice. Are our parents not responsible for making that decision in our lives? Why should an organization pay for our education when, had we not been involved w/ it at all, we would have paid for it ourselves? No one here can say that they would have turned out differently had they been able to play HS football, attend ballet class, or celebrate birthdays and Christmas during their youth. Is that the case that will be brought before a judge? "JW Headquarters sued for depriving members of birthday parties, Christmas, and extra-curricular activites in their youth." I fail to see any law that has been broken. What lawyer is going to take that case? JD has been in Law School for about 6 weeks and already knows this would be a waste of time and energy.
As for your comments on the pedophile issues, that is completely different and NOT what has been brought up in this discussion. That is a criminal act and those cases were WON, albiet out of court. However, regarding the blood issue, individulals who refused blood transfusions or parents who refused for their children CHOSE to do so. They were not forced, like victims of pedophilia, to do something they didn't want to do. And although it is very sad that so many have lost ones due to these choices, is a Judge really going to hold a religious organization responsible for the individuals decisions?

I think that if any lawsuit is pursued, it might be a good idea to have some sort of documentation that would back up ones' claim.
Something like a memo - or letter to the congregations - something from Brooklyn - or the local elders. (If it's local though, then the lawsuit might only be against the local congregation).
But for the most part... the WTBTS is pretty savy. They may print suggestions in their literature - but it is vague - and ambiguous - with references to 'the strong christian' - or somesuch. This wouldn't stand up in a court case.
So - what is needed is a 'smoking gun' so to speak. A letter from Brooklyn, perhaps even an 'internal memo' - signed by the leaders.
Just my .02 worth.

A judge DID hold a corporation responsible for the individual's decision in the case against the tobacco companies~!
It's a case of the right team of lawyers at the right time in the right frame of social consciousness. And just as in
the pedophilia case, only certain victims with substantiated claims got compensated. IT CAN BE DONE but will
take the right team at the right time with the right victims.

NEWSFLASH sweetface, you need to educate yourself regarding the difference between CULTS and HIGH CONTROL ORGANIZATIONS vs. Religions where one actually makes a choice. It appears that you continue to delude yourself (embarrassment perhaps?) into believing you were a member of a religion.
Regardless of that, your remarks stray beyond informative opinion and into the realm of insult, by telling those who don't share your *uninformed* view to "get the fuck over themselves". Shame on ya. -

And if "exposure" via lawsuit results in financial compensation, for WHATEVER REASON a lawyer can convince a judge and jury, I say more power to the them.

That's fine...do what you want. It's your decision and you have every right to make it. Although as has been brought up many times in this very thread, organization is the key. I don't really see this issue going any further than this or any other discussion board or group.
As for the comments directly insulting me for my opinion, oh screw it, I don't care. I have other things on which I would rather spend my time and energy..like the life I am ENJOYING!!!!

You don't seem to have the chutzpah for being a trial lawyer. It takes vision to think this large and at least consider the possibilities.
