Ask your parents for help (including room and board). Cut up the credit cards. Get a higher paying job or extra hours. Cut costs. Buy a 5 dollar pair of rabbit ears. No eating out and look for discounted day old foodstuffs (we do and it's perfectly good).

School loans can give you enough to live on. Depending on what year you are in (sophomore, junior) you will get more and more loans. I practically lived of my loans by themselves. At the end I was getting about 6,000 per semester in loans and grants and scholarships. PM me and we can talk about your fafsa. it may be that you are not filling it out "properly."

The online class thing is a good suggestion. I attend CTC which works with the military, and they have classes starting every 2 weeks, so I can stagger my course load.
Also you should speak to your states Department of Human and Health Services, many have grocery programs, electric and phone reductions. It is worth checking out.....don't look at it as a hand out but a hand up so you can finish school, and pay a boat load back in taxes.
Follow everybodies else good advice too as they are worthy of consideration.

He Tsunami! Glad to hear from you. Did you go overseas for the summer or stay home and work? I remember that was the last time we heard from you I believe. Most are right, ditch cable. I know you are a fader and going home is not an option if you want to continue school as is, right? Financial aid is number one, go talk to them NOW. Second, listen to their advice.... Less school, more work, or more loan money etc, and don't piss it away on gadgets and the like. Better yet, settle in for the long haul and cut back on expenses. You'll really enjoy a night out when you get one that way. Thought of you often young sir. Good luck, say hello more often... W.Once

This is a good suggestion. We also eat ramon noodles quite often to cut expenses down. My shopping list normally consists boxed things such as spaghetti, ramon noodles, frozen veggis (since they last longer than fresh veggis), sometimes chicken (if I have enough money), powder milk, lots of cheep cereal such as cheerios, powdered eggs and things like this. With just the few items I've listed I can make an awesome meal for all three of us pretty cheap.
If you are not a person to cook you may have to learn how to cook since that is the cheapest way to have meals.
I also shop at Aldi's or Save-A-Lot more than I do any other stores. The Dollar stores sometimes have name brand deodorants/shampoos/and other things that are more expensive even at stores like Wal-mart.

Tsunami_rid3r, I worked full time and went to school full time. It sucked, and I barely ever slept, but I did it. It can be done, but you have to be willing to work your fingers to the bone. At one point, in addition to a regular full time job, I cleaned carpets at night. I slept about 4 hours a night, but I made it through. Try looking at different schools and see if any of them offer online classes. I took a few that way, usually doubling up on the weekends.
If you can, quit the retail jobs. They usually don't pay enough to afford the gas to get there the next week. Talk to your school's office or advisor. Many colleges have job assistance programs to hook up their students with jobs that work around their schedules, sometimes even finding you a job in your field of study.
