I wish I had your ability. What you did was incredible. It's about time people approach THEM rather than allowing them to approach us. They call their Bible a sword? I like your weapon a whole lot more. It really penetrates a person. I wonder what he had to think about when he laid in bed that night. It takes humility to admit a wrong. How haughty the JW's are. They will never admit they are wrong. How can they when they are totally brainwashed to think that ONLY their religion is the right one. Perfect in every way. Sadly, so many think it is because of all the deception and coverups that go on.
I think I will get my armour all collected and be prepared the next time they want to attempt an attack on me.

Quite a while back I taped a 20-20 on the child abuse in the WTBTS organization.. My JW-MIL wanted to see it..I was shocked but gave it to her. A few weeks later she gave it back and said she didn't believe it. She asked my JW hubby if he knew any child abusers in the org..and he said no!.Then she said she didn't know any either so it can't be true..I guess they think child abusers wear some sort of sign..
Some people have their heads buried so deep in the sand they will never see the truth..

I was able to give the same info. to 2 jw friends of mine and both were surprised about it but quickly mentioned that child abuse happens in every religion
I reminded them about the Catholic church went public and apologized to the victims but the GB put a gag order on the victims.
Once again it went in one ear and out the other.
The brainwashed mind of the JW's cannot and will not look down on the GB. It is a sin doing so.

How was he already familiar with this person? Was this the person who wrote the article? Was this person a former JW? Would it have been any more credible if it had been say...someone like anderson cooper?
If he did not know Bill Bowen personally, doesn't it seem to you that the wbts had put out a hatchet job on Bowen before the article came out?
Seems like the elder was prepared to shoot the whole thing down because of hearing adverse info about this one person.

Okay, so the only thing against the Watchtower is that it is hiding the fact that these court cases are happening from it's members while the other churches ie Catholic do not?
But in their own press release that I linked to they say that they have nothing against telling the authorities. They don't say anything about telling the congregation though...hmmmm interesting.
Seriously though, the idea of fighting the Watchtower based on what some people within it are doing (who obviously are hardwired "incorrectly" in the brain) doesn't have as much firepower with me as other issues.
I would feel silly fighting a JW about the sex abuse thing. When there is so much better fuel out there to use.

QUANDRY- Yes. I know it was a typical response of a JW. I hope a tiny part of his brain had a seed planted about this issue though.
Ex-NJ-JW- It's true the witnesses are told not to listen to negative things on the internet about their church . So, meanwhile as they wait on Jehovah to catch the child molester, each day one more child's life gets screwed up due to their inattention and pride.
HELNCON- Thanks. I too was never aware of the child molestation problems until after leaving the organization. I hope the new articles helps some witnesses come forward if they know someone is being abused.
BUMBLE BEE- Thanks. I hope this guy (elder) does call some elder friends of his and spreads the word to kingdom come. Any way this news could be spread will help.
ON THE WAY OUT- I hope more people do tell other jw's about what is happening regarding the molestation settlements. Spread it.
MARY- Thanks, Mary. My mom reacted the same way your mom did in June when I told her of the settlements. She thought it was wrong that a gag order was placed on these victims . But my parents are 82 and 80, so I take it easy on them also. They respect my fading situation so it makes it easier. Hope your dad is getting better. Peace.
MADDIE- I agree with you. The witnesses are under a magic spell of cult mind control. They are told exactly how to respond. No free will allowed.
MINCAN- Thanks for the claps. Thanks for the u-tube on J.R. Brown. I've seen this one, and it's interesting. The one thing about it, is he's lying through his teeth when he says they are protecting the children. They are not. There have been many documented cases, ( some of which were on Dateline 2002 in May) of elders preventing child abuse victims and their families from going to the authorities or else they would be threatened with disfellowshipping for doing so. It might not have been the societies direction, but it has happened in many, many congregations by elders abusing their authority. So that is a very important reason to get the word out too and expose this crime. The child molestation issue is a dangerous issue, because it is still happening in that organization with people being afraid to rat others out, for fear of the consequences if the person ratted out is an elder or whatever. So it's not silly at all to challenge these people about this real issue.

SKEETER 1- I think he probably did have the tract with the Catholic priest thing in it, but they refuse to admit they are on the same level with the Catholics, or anybody else for that matter.
REBORN AGAIN- Thanks for the kind words. The witnesses are a haughty, unrepentful bunch of people who won't admit when they are wrong. Hopefully more of us can spread the word on this molestation issue , so their own members will hear what's going on.
SNOOZY- Sorry to hear your mother in law was so stubborn as not to see the real issues here. I have known of at least 10 witnesses or ex-witnesses who are or were child molesters, in my 44 years I was in that organization. Just because someone didn't know someone who committed child molestation, doesn't mean it didn't happen.
SSPO- I agree with you. The witnesses will defend the governing body to the death, even if they're wrong.
TULA- I agree with your take. I'm sure this guy had heard of Bill Bowen, probably from the 2002 Dateline program on child abuse. I heard that the society sent a directive out to all the United States body of elders before that show came on , dissing it as an apostate who was on it, so all the congregations were told not to watch it. To be honest, I think that when they have to go deep into defence mode, it only pushes them deeper into their convictions. You saw how easily he was able to dismiss the 'apostate' Bill Bowen. You probably shook him up a bit, but he's only going to remember you disrespecting his precious magazines. He'll label you as an angry bitter apostate too.
You can't be aggressive, they just close up.
