One of my classics was because the Bethel printing room was so clean then it must be Jehovah's Organization.

Now I realize, of course, that most businesses keep their operations equally clean.

    DOH!

You are so right that other businesses keep their operations clean, and they do it with a profit motive (to help improve employee morale and cut down on workplace accidents). When I toured the Anheuser-Busch factory in Saint Louis, it was astoundingly clean and beautiful. Even the stables where they kept their Clydesdales was spotless.

I used to believe that JW's were the only people persecuted or jailed because of their beliefs. And I used to believe the organization never got involved in the politics of this world. In reality they have directly opposed certain governments.

I was even more naivé. I thought all JW's were honest, (never lied, cheated, steal etc. etc.) and the closest thing to perfection that you could ever be. *duh*

I used to believe that Satn and the demons were watching me to see what my weaknesses and temptations were. Where did I get that idea??

To please Jahoohoo I believed that I must push myself harder AND I must never say NO to a request for assistance, regardless of how tired or how stupid a situation. . .because I was stronger than others I could bear more burden. If I held back I was no better than the world.

File this one ALSO under: Lies my mother told me.

I believed that the Governing Body lived by the vow of poverty that other members of Bethel took, I believed that their selfless poor lives were part of what made it the truth.

I too thought the GB lived modestly. I was even so convinced that was the case, that I adamantly would tell people, "Our donations NEVER go to anyone in the upper ranks, and our elders do all services for free, which is why I am so proud to be a part of this organization". Of course this is what they wanted us to believe. LIARS!.....All of them!
