I used to beliave I could find God in a relgion .After that I believed I could "find" god at all .

I was even more naivé. I thought all JW's were honest, (never lied, cheated, steal etc. etc.) and the closest thing to perfection that you could ever be. *duh*

I used to believe that the presiding overseer was infallible - until one day my buddy was house sitting over there and we noticed he had "Wife Sluts" cached in his address bar in his Internet Explorer browser...

I used to believe many funny things, for example, that there are supernatural beings up there watching us constantly some with the ability to have an awareness of what all 6 billion people are doing at any one time.

Specifically regarding Jehovah's Witnesses, I also put the elders up there. I believed the company line that Jehovah's spirit directed their appointment, so you never had to worry about their decisions. I believed that all congregations were basically the same because Jehovah's spirit was directing his organization. When people would tell me that they got along better at this congregation over that congregation, I would think that was ridiculous.

My undoing was gradual, but there was significant unraveling of my previous worldview including this belief all powerful spirit force guiding the congregations when I stood on stage and went through the motions, and made the sounds for a praryer while not believing a word that came out of my mouth. Everybody said "amen" anyway.

In '74, I was worried when I got pregnant that I may have to give birth to my 1st baby on a dirty old prison floor because the end was coming so soon & the governments could have us all in prison by then.

I used to believe that just because JWs worldwide use the exact same study material that it's a sign of the Holy Spirit working through the organization. If that were so, I guess the Holy Spirit is operative in other businesses that operate worldwide.
