Yea, what Nvr said. Been there, done that. Of course, your fun factor depends on the congregation. Some are more strict than others depending on the BOE. In the end, still bored to tears.

I thought this was just a 'local' thing around here! One of the local Dubs has been attending the Spanish Congregation. No reason was given but I'm assuming it's because she's bored out of her tree at the English speaking one.

It's funny how different it is here in South Florida.

Here in Miami, there is about a 10 to 1 ratio on Spanish to English ... some KH's with 5 congregations (alot here have 5) don't even have an English congregation.

So in our case, the chic thing is to go to English ...LOL

Learning a new language and experiencing a new culture can make the drudgery that is the life of a JW just a little bit more bearable.

nvr, not to mention that you get to learn a new language and experience a new culture for free. No need to pay high prices at a college or spend a lot on traveling. Well, I shouldn't say free, of course. There are still the meetings to attend (although fun at first) and the field service to go out in. But free, as in no money spent.

I think this going to a spanish congregation is just to relieve the boredom and still come out looking like a really "spiritual" dub. I know one family that is going to an Arabic comgregation in San Diego after doing the spanish thing for a while. These are really nice people and I really think it's just a diversion for them.

So the meetings are that simple of reading material that you can attend another language and still have time to translate and understand. Pretty pathetic.

Some have moved to a spanish cong. and then started their fade from the watchtower.

It's the way to go, once they receive the publisher's card you start missing meetings.

No one knows you, many of the elders cannot speak english and they don't bother

    checking on you.
