I'm amazed at how they are willing to go through all sorts of mental gymnastics instead of simply admitting that they got the whole damn thing wrong.

Maybe they suffer from too much pride.

If this is true and the change come out in print in the JW only version of the WT, I think many people on the fence will finally get the picture. I know I will be able to use it to my advantage with my wife.

I am probably wrong, but the elders might need to make a token attempt at shepherding
me now that the C.O. must be coming sometime soon and I am totally inactive since the last
visit. (WOW, it's great to be free.)

Anyway, I need this study mag. to reach me before that attempt. I am sure I can make that
happen through JWD, then not mention the source.

The BOE knows that "this generation" was a major "stumbling" block for me. I can say that
I am more stumbled that their 12 year stand on confusing doctrine is abandoned so soon for
something else. I might have to work on this. (Of course, then the elders will never attempt the
    call.)

Why are they waiting till January? What if armageddon comes before then? Just think of all the lives they are putting at risk by not revealing this new light in a "timely manner"! Sorry little publisher, you don't have concise knowledge, nothing but bowls of anger for you!

I was just thinking the same thing as the Sacrificialloon. So that means the gb knowingly allows the r & f to go around teaching falsehoods. (not like we didn't know that before but do any r & f think of this and wonder?)

    In a word, no.

You know, I think I should let the cat out of the bag early!

You know....I would hope that there is going to be a significant number of the r&f who are going to be thinking "Again???!!!"

They have made so many ( hahahaha....snicker ) refinements to this doctrine that surely by now even they have trouble keeping it straight.Especially since, as Awakened pointed out, some of them are getting a bit crusty. Maybe even.... senile. ( Gasp! )

Wouldn't you just love to be at an assembly just long enough to see Teddy J have a melt down over this topic? "We know that our Lord Jesus definitely said that This Generation would not pass away before Armageddon! This generation refers to those ones 14 or older in 1914.............er,yes....no......1957.no..wait....lets see, was it 1995? No,no ...thats when God gave me..I mean us...the perfect infallible new light about the generation of 2034...No! wait........what the hell are those attendants waving at me for? Is my fly open again? No.....................................DAMMIT! All you drones forget about that crap and just go out in service more! And stop missing so many meetings! AND FOR GODS SAKE STOP MOLESTING LITTLE KIDS!!!! WE CAN'T AFFORD ANY MORE SETTLEMENTS!!!!................I need a nap..........

( Read the above lines in your best addled old fart voice. That might make it funny. Probably not, but it can't hurt to try.)

This leads me to wonder why they did the 1995 change the way they did.

Maybe they did not want to go directly to the explanation that Raymond Franz said they would in CoC.

    From page 265 of CoC:

The leadership had made numerous adjustments and now had

few remaining options. There was the 1957 starting date for “this

generation” proposed by members Schroeder, Klein and Suiter, but

that seemed an unlikely choice. ((((((There was Albert Schroeder’s idea

of applying the phrase to the ‘‘anointed’’ class (an idea that had been

floating around the organization for many, many years) which offered

certain advantages—there are always additional persons (some fairly

young) who each year decide for the first time that they are of the

    “anointed” class.)))))))
