Apparently God didn't reveal the dinosaurs to them. Maybe because they didn't need to know about them, OR...they didn't believe God, because they had the Missouri frame of mind, "SHOW ME!"

Wasn't there an Asleep on the Dinosaurs? I remember being utterly disappointed since it was supposed to tell what happened to the dinosaurs, but alas left us unfulfilled. Anyone else remember this? It was probably in the late 80s/early 90s I'm thinking.
Well, it's not like dinosaur bones were invented in the 19th. century. I'm pretty sure dino bones have been found throughout mankind's history, and are probably the origins of certain myths, like dragons. Moses himself could have stumbled on a few bones; it wouldn't be completely unthinkable. Why not tell mankind about these bones they inevitably one day - sooner or later - would come across?
Wasn't there an Asleep on the Dinosaurs? I remember being utterly disappointed since it was supposed to tell what happened to the dinosaurs, but alas left us unfulfilled. Anyone else remember this? It was probably in the late 80s/early 90s I'm thinking. Yes, there was an article some years back. I also was excited, because I thought that finally the WTS was going to give some answers to when and why dinosaurs were here, as they had undoubtedly been devinely inspired and received "light" on this subject to impart to us. Ultimately, they wrote an entire article that said nothing other than information readily available to anyone. That yes, dinosaurs did exist. That they were big. (typical-they couldn't say they didn't know anything more?) Since the WT "day" was 7,000 years long, they could only have existed within the last 50,000 years. (I don't think they wanted to print this, as it would have made them look foolish-due to the plethora of different kinds of dinosaurs that now have been unearthed and the modern dating methods available to science) They never addressed the issue of whether they ate meat. However, paleontologists have recovered fossil remains of a Velociraptor and a Protoceratops joined together-they killed each other. The Velociraptor was kicking the Protoceratops, which responded by biting the chest of the hunter. So, there you have it.
I found a dinosaur in MY Bible.

it's from the inside cover of the 1970 NWT

So when did they change this teaching? Because now, they don't teach that one creation day was a spesific number of years, do they?
Does anyone remember?

I think they've flip-flopped (or, hit the "new light" -switch on and off and on again) a few times on this, because in C. T. Russel's day, he said in the Photodrama of Creation that it was 7000 years each. But then I think later on, in the fifties or so, the understanding was that it was a thousand years pr. creation day. I'm not sure if they have ever came out and said "from now on it's an indefinite period of time", but they never do it that way; it's just suddenly snuck in there in a sentence, plus the earlier teaching is not mentioned anymore in articles you'd think it wold be mentioned. Then again, it should be possible to find the approximate time when they went from one teaching to the other.
[edit] I've checked, and it was "thousands of years" pr. day in the 1985 Creation book. It would make sense that the 7000 years (or 1000) pr. day teaching would have been in effect until around 1975, but not much longer. [/edit]
Ninja - our minds must think alike! I also thought it was a thread to do with the Governing Body or the elders!!!!!!
I hope this isn't too off topic, but the JWs leaders remind me of something I
