To me, the phrase "your former JW friends" comes across like it paints all JWs with the same brush. That's not really what you intended was it? I doubt very much that you did.

Om, I do not think Nvr was freinds with all JWs.

I never claimed to be the sharpest tool in the shed and sometimes what comes out when I write is not what I intended.

Ironically, BFD, that was part of the lie.

That I had over six million friends.

We all were united by our love for our Heavenly Father Jehovah God.

Doesn't it make you want to go back?

    Amen to that!

Let me give this another shot. Of course Nvr wasn't friends with all JWs, but even among his comparitively smaller group of "former JW friends", I would venture to guess that THEY are all over the map.

If Nvr's old friends fully knew where he was mentally/spiritually now, their reactions would be mixed. Well, at least internally they would be mixed. Plenty would feel compelled to say condemnatory things because they know it's expected. But some, IMO, would wonder if Nvr's onto something.

    Just my $.02.

Nvrgnbk..You paint a very black and white picture..I think some bring that with them when they leave the cult..Maybe most. The Danny Hazsard story is a good example..So many went on and on,like it was going to make a difference..As time goes on,the more reasonable mellow out..The crazies are still crazy..All the "Drama" won`t change that...OUTLAW

Nvr, I am sorry about your freind. Human relationships are complicated enough without throwing religions and cults into the mix.

I do not suggest hate as a solution to anything.

I am just trying to point out that the measures some would go to to protect the evil cult of JWs.

Were you ever so engrained in it that you would stone an aposate if given the opportunity? If so, at what point did you change?

I want you all to know I do not judge anyone or their choices of how best to "get out of her". Everyone's path will be different and I accept that.

    Live and let live.

    Love you too, man.

    Once again, excellent questions.

They illustrate the idea of my post perfectly.

At what point did I change?

    It's so hard to pinpoint.

That's why I think it's so important to give the JWs as individuals the benefit of the doubt.

Today's elder or CO could be tomorrow's OUTLAW.

Today's pioneer sister could be tomorrow's Blondie.

    Nvr,

    Great thread.

Some years ago a fanatical fundamental quasi religious group fought the Russians in Afghanistan and were hailed as heros and freedom fighters. They and their allies committed unspeakable acts of violence to drive out the Russian 'infidel' from their land.

Some years ago the descendents of these so called 'freedom fighters' flew planes into the Twin Towers in New York, killing people that they did not know in order to attck an organisation and were finally exposed to the world for what they were ...........................'evil terrorists'.

The lessons learned by the U.S. could be taught to some persons in this forum.

Terrorists have no real friends only fellow travellers who encourage them to the point of destruction.

I won't claim that I changed from "bad" to "good". I'm still basically the same person with a different viewpoint now.

I have let go of the fears and prejudices implanted in me by WTS teaching, and so have become more tolerant and even more respectful of others as a result.

I always had it in me, but after leaving the JW's behind and starting to see humanity in the world in general, those qualities finally came out more fully.

Nvr, very insightful topic. I am still me. What I have learned has not changed me as me. Information has removed the Illusion, the concept, that I was once held captive to. Now I am open to help others escape from this Illusion.

Jesus said: By your own words you are condemned. So it goes with the Watchtower Society. We don't have to attack the Watchtower, only use their own words in print etc. to remove the Illusion.
