We don't have to attack the Watchtower, only use their own words in print etc. to remove the Illusion.

    Exactly.

The Quotes site really helped me when I was lurking, before I found JWD.

I guess that was true of so many.

That's why the WT went after the owner.

    Thanks, Peter!

    LOL!

    I know that.

I was referring to the owner of the Quotes site.

    Sorry for the confusion.

I think the first step after leaving the witnesses is to become an anti-witness. Some get trapped there.

After looking at the issues within the organization and seeing the same issues afflicting millions of others in the world on a much larger scale, I think many stop caring about the issues within the organization as much as tackling the issues in the world.

Then I think people make the transition from anti-witness to ex-witness.

    Just my perception.

Personally, for me the gradual freedom fighter in me grew while I was still in the cult , going through the experiences of being unjustly treated by those whom I thought I could trust . I wanted to give some of the elders I knew the benefit of the doubt , but some just fueled my doubting suspicions by not going along with what they had taught me to believe . So, I had to make decision to live the lie or hypocrisy within the witnesses or to get out. But that process took time, a long time . I don't think all JW's are evil , I think they are just misled and brainwashed by the governing body . But I agree with the poster who said , I don't look at myself as a JW or ex-JW , just a human being who wants to open people's minds and help people . And if that involves helping them out of a mind control cult , then I will do that, but in a civilized , respectful, but firm in my convictions type way. Now I'm all over the map ? Hope not! Peace out, Mr. Flipper

There are JW's who are reasonable, kind, even tempered, open to new ideas and tolerant of others who are different from them. When those people leave the organization, they are simply ex-JW's who are reasonable, kind, even tempered, open to new ideas and tolerant of others who are different from them.

There are JW's who are mean spirited, petty, judgemental and antagonistic. When those people leave the organization, the are simply ex-JW's who are mean spirited, petty, judgemental and antagonistic.

    Get it?

I came to that realisation not to long ago when I was talking to a childhood friend who stayed in for his family. I notice he didn't change much and he said that I didn't change much either. Like some one said, the only thing that change for me is the way I see the world.
