No one is home, I would like to hear my favorite music while I am cooking dinner. There are 5 remotes with 50 buttons each. The CD is in, power is on and .....dammit nothing! Why do these machines have to be so complicated?
What happened to On and Play? (and yes the volume is up)

I TOTALLY understand that! My husband is a audio nerd...and has all these "fabulous" features....However I cannot enjoy these things....or even make them work on my own.... so to me it is WORTHLESS!
He says there is a remote control that he wants that would do away with all the others and it is so smart that all you have to do is hit a button to do what you want and it turns whatever needs on on. Costs about 100.00 though. I'll let you know sister!
Could it be that the power supply is plugged into a light switch outlet??? My TV and stereo upstairs is like that, just trying to do a little TShooting

Could it be a blank cd? Are there speakers attached?
I know I'm gonna get the dogs sicked on me, but I couldn't resist. I absolutely love it when my wife gets flustered with a/v stuff. It's pretty much the only power I have over her to get my way which is not (or pretty much never) often.
Is there a "CD" button? On our stereo (also equipped with about 100 remote controls with about 45,000 buttons each), you have to push the button that says "CD" or else the CD won't play. Same goes for FM, sound for the TV, sound for the DVD....

Here was the little secret.....My husband called.....trying to help me. He kept saying it said "by pass "on the cable remote....no such button existed, and he kept insisting I had the wrong remobte, but there was a goofy light on the cable box labled that.
It turned out it was a button called Video source at the bottom of ....count 'em 59 out of 60 buttons on just one remote!!!!.....from Bright house cable.
In the mean time I frustrated my husband to no end......and me

Did you try buying it a drink and telling it that it was hot?
I never touch my husband's stereo, yeah it's the hubby's cuz I don't understand how to make it work and he picked it out. It's supposed to be really nice but how nice is it if only one person in the house can operate the damn thing?
