I don't think this is bribing in the usual sense of the word. Otherwise, it would not be openly documented on the NY gov. website.

Perhaps New York City's government is so huge that lobbyists are necessary in order to get a corp. legitimate interests out on the table.

I don't know. I'm hoping someone can explain what this is and is it a necessary expense or is it some sort of "brother-in-law" deal given

    to cronies.

Seems like the WTBS is using more and more worldly people and organizations to do it's dirty work.

This months favorite scripture in addition to my standard:

Luke 16: 13 No house servant can be a slave to two masters; for, either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will stick to the one and despise the other. Y OU cannot be slaves to God and to riches.”

Guess we know whom the WTBS firmly slaves too

1 Cor 7:23 Y OU were bought with a price; stop becoming slaves of men.

Such timely "spiritual food" from a confirmed "annoited slave"

    Y

well it wouldn't be a "crony" kind of deal, just business as usual. It's how corporations get favorable legislation. It's one of the main reasons the ordinary guy gets shafted by government - members of government are involved in a conflict of interest, accepting donations, through lobbyists, from the organizations they are supposed to be regulating.

If you were still a JW, and you knew contributions were being used for these purposes, would it bother you? This

wasn't the only year they forked over this kind of money, as the website shows. I don't know. In the day, I would

have been appalled at this. The WTS is nothing but BIG BUSINESS!

i've posted about this in the past. it seems that the lobbying was for real estate rezoning issues.

Like I said, "nothing but Big Business and Real Estate Deals"! I wonder whose "nephew" is the lobbyist with the connections.

I'm sorry. I just don't trust them. And when I see elderly elders and families that struggle just to pay their car note and mortgage

fork over contribution money thinking it's for building Kingdom Halls and sending out missionaries, it sickens me.

Remember when the WTBTS felt Jehovah was the only "lobbyist" they needed?

*** yb91 pp. 10-15 Jehovah’s Witnesses—1991 Yearbook Report *** This past year the Society was able to complete the purchase of a property known as 85 Jay Street, which contains several buildings of various sizes. It is two blocks from the factory complex and has a ground area of 97,800 square feet [9,100 sq m], larger than that of the present five factory buildings. The property will be held for any future needs.

A report by Patterson Farm on obtaining building permits for this vast project states: “Jehovah’s direction has been evident in these dealings. An example of this is a recent announcement from the State that no additional wastewater treatment plants would be approved in the watershed area. The last plant approved was ours.

*** g92 10/22 p. 5 A New World Satisfying to All *** There would be no more clever lobbyists manipulating officials on certain laws or bills affecting purely local interests
