here is a poem a friend of mine wrote

    The Takeoff

The lakeside days, once long and hot
    but all a distant afterthought
    of honeysuckle, soft and sweet
drawn out by august's endless heat.
The moonlit nights, once soft and thick
come to a close, sharp and quick.
and summers splendor comes to pass
with autumns brilliance, here at last.
The morning breeze blows quick and cool
    across the ganders wooded pool.
The colored leaves across the lake
beg feathered friends of haste to make.
Summer's gone, no time to laze
fly away quick to warmer days
