Do you "shun" posters?

I don't shun anyone. There are just certain topics I avoid.

Never, I will put my hump down wherever I feel like it. No matter how ignorant, rude, repulsive, knowing-it-all, pretentious, small-thinking, big-talking they are....I will not shun them......oompa

    nvr....,

I also think that some long-time posters that have met over the years feel like family and see some of the more "junior" members as interlopers in their "home".

I think what really happens is that some "long-time posters" get a little frustrated with new posters who think that the search facilty might scupper their plans to announce newly discovered "truths".

There never was a JWD "family" in the past. On the contrary, one lived and died on the value or otherwise of their posts, and little else. I can think of nothing more just and nothing more socially levelling.

Comments are often made about the "good old days" when JWD was full of smart people.

I am sure you are able to back up your statement with some evidence? I would be very interested to see such comments. Find a few for me.

In the "good old days" a person would never have thought of posting such a comment without providing at least some evidence, if nothing else, for fear of being challenged and found wanting. ;)

It is true that there were some very "smart" people around on this board a few years ago. Many were professionals in their field. Some of these has been well removed from the WTS for some years and were able to bring a refreshing viewpoint to WTS matters. I have however, seen no comments extolling any particular posters over such posters today.

It is also true that the Board is a friendlier place and has a "coffee shop" feel, as opposed to having a smokey backroom intensity about it. Many who post today would probably not feel comfortable cutting life to the bone, as many who have left might find the tone these days rather tedious.

    Everything comes and goes.

I have this theory that in any population there will be a ratio of loons, and this is a big board so there are a few around. I tend not to read their stuff.

    I shun topics, not posters.

    My apologies, h_s.

I should have prefaced my post with...

    These are my perceptions

I meant no disrespect to anyone.

    ;)

    Everything comes and goes.

    So very true.
