That's good at least she had a decent conversation with you without the Jdub party line. I really hope she missed you and will keep in touch, I think that's all we really want is to be able to keep in touch with our Jdub families.

I'm glad for you. It is my hope that she is trying to rekindle a relationship with you.
I almost started a topic yesterday "Why can't I pick up the phone". I have stopped trying to reach out to my mom after many years. It's been over a year now since my last attempt to reach out. For some reason I just cannot pick up the phone. I think it is because of all the stuff I've learned this year with regard to the true nautre of the WT$.
I don't know. Sorry for the ramble and good luck with your mom.

It would be great to hear of family members coming around because of the "new light" and changes going on "inside" the org. I hope she thinks about the years she has missed and what she is missing, and comes to her senses!!

Hi Else! She told you about your dad's medical issue. She is concerned about his health and wants you to be prepared for any future medical issues that might come up with your dad. Have you spoken with your dad lately? Is she looking to you for comfort? She may want you to come and visit your dad, using the health concerns as a basis for it, before anything unexpectedly should happen health wise in the near future.This may be the beginning of a coming together. I wish and hope the best for you and family.

I'll bet you had a few seconds of "OMG who died?!!!" before the conversation started, didn't you? I've done that before when distant relatives call for any reason. The only 'family get-togethers' I go to these days are funerals!
I'm so happy for you Elsewhere! It's really wonderful to connect, & your relationship with your Mom sounds like a really loving connection. I hope it continues without fear & that there's much more where that came from! Could be that she's been ***gasp*** reading her Bible without a WT guide & being built-up with a loving message instead of a dreadful one? It is in there, but WT literature underlines God's adverse judgement & the wts' authority to wield His judgements for Him; while scriptures that reinterate God's mercy, immeasureable love and surpassing forgiveness go unused, effectively hidden in plain sight.
She must be a nice lady to have raised you, you sound like a sweet & good son that learned love somewhere, not elsewhere. You know how to progress, keep that love connection open - hug her tight more than once, kiss her cheeks & tell her you miss her too, oh & show thanks & proper awe over the pictures! lol.

These kinds of posts always get to me. It shouldn't be big news that our moms called us. Can you see a normal family putting up a post reading "My mom called today. She wanted to check on me and send me some photos." WHO CARES? . But with us it is different ... We have to wonder about modivations for our moms making a simple phone call. I'm sorry you have to go through this. I know what you are going through.

I don't want to be a bucket of cold water on the inherent hopefulness of Elsewhere's post, but...: guard yourself, Elsewhere. IMO, this act of reaching out (on your mother's part) is best met with an attitude of 'pleasant interest' than one of pure optimism.
