In the state of North Carolina, you can run up your phone bill to $1000's and $1000's and by law you only have to pay basic local service to keep services on. Meaning, you can call your phone company and pay $25 on your phone bill and still keep services, even though your bill is like $1600. This was probably put in place to prevent people from losing there services for 911 and other medical needs. Yet it has become something else. People set up service, accept about $1000 in collect calls from their friends and relatives in prison and then never pay it. Which is fraud! So how is this racist in some possible way? Because the people we know do this the most in North Carolina, are African American. Don't ask me how I know, I know. I get so angry by this, as I think this is another example of what Bill Cosby has been preaching about in his older years.

OK first of all Mary I wasn't suggesting that it be taken away. Also if you read my post after the first one, I pointed out I wasn't being that serious just that people gloating about the number of posts they have has always grated my nerves a little bit. So I wanted to vent and in the process cause a little controversy!

lighten up please..... its just a way to acknowledge each other...kinda like the gold star you got when you were a kid...its nice to be noticed by others.... with a few exceptions (nvr being Exhibit A )...it usually takes some time to reach the higher levels....I tried to bury post 1000 (Jedi) in the werewolf game hoping not to get noticed,,,but a very kind poster started a thread for myself and another for another poster who hit Jedi (1000 posts) at the same time....and the fact that we all met in Toronto a week or so back made it even nicer...I appreciated it...
and as for the Karma point thing....someone suggested a poster rating system here...thank goodness it was nixed by cooler heads....I left the Borg because I was tired of being measured... the whole Trevorgate thing would have still flown under such a rating system, because that fraudulent poster had the respect of many on the board.
But I respect your rant and get where you are coming from...
