In Oregon we have the "wet season" and the "really fucking wet season". We choose to find it endearing or else sink into the depths of Seasonal Affective Disorder

That being said, I love it here and actually enjoy the rain as long as I'm not stuck in traffic on a motorcycle in it

    Depends.

I love thunderstorms. I love very hard rains.

Not much on the drizzley, chilly sort of day that is just kinda 'blah'. It makes me blah too. Today is one of them. But my nice warm bowl of chicken and noodles is warming me up just fine.

Who was that country artist that sang the song "I Love a Rainy Day"? It was back in the late seventies.

    That would be Eddie Rabbit.

I love rainy days and thunderstorms, and what most people would refer to as "gloomy weather"- those are my best days.

I'm waiting for someone to start a thread to see how many songs we could come up with that has rain in them.

    RAIN

    G D Am C cont

WHAT IS IT ABOUT THE RAIN

THAT MAKES YOU WANNA FIGHT ANOTHER DAY

OR COULD HAVE THE OPPOSITE EFFECT

MAKE YOU GIVE IN AND WISH THAT YOU WERE DEAD

WHAT IS IT ABOUT THE RAIN

WHY DOES IT PRODUCE CONTRASTING EMOTIONS

WHY DOES IT HAVE THE POWER TO HURT AND HEAL

HOW CAN IT SO CHANGE THE WAY WE FEEL

    chorus

    ROMANTIC EROTIC DEPRESSING HYPNOTIC

IT'S DREARY OR REFRESHING, SIMPLY INVIGORATING

CAN DAMPEN OR IGNITE EITHER PASSION OR A FIGHT

CAN MAKE YOU FEEL BOTH DIRTY OR CLEAN

IF YOU KNOW WHAT I MEAN

WHAT IS IT ABOUT THE RAIN

THAT MAKES YOU WANNA THINK ABOUT THE PAST

AS IF SOMEHOW THE MEMORIES AND THE PAIN

COULD JUST BE WASHED AWAY AND NEVER LAST

    repeat chorus repeat verse 1

IN THE RAIN YOU CAN CRY AND NO-ONE SEES YOU

IN THE RAIN YOU CAN LAUGH AND NO-ONE CARES

IN THE RAIN YOU CAN CRY AND NO-ONE SEES YOU

IN THE RAIN YOU CAN LAUGH AND NO-ONE CARES

If we are going to talk about rain songs, I have always enjoyed this acoustically-driven one from Jars of Clay: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=grJR-7FkoWc

    "Flood"Rain, rain on my face
It hasn't stopped raining for days
    My world is a flood
Slowly I become one with the mud

    [Chorus:]

But if I can't swim after forty days
and my mind is crushed by the thrashing waves
Lift me up so high that I cannot fall
    Lift me up
Lift me up - when I'm falling
Lift me up - I'm weak and I'm dying
Lift me up - I need you to hold me
Lift me up - Keep me from drowning again

    Downpour on my soul
Splashing in the ocean, I'm losing control
    Dark sky all around
I can't feel my feet touching the ground

    [Chorus]

Calm the storms that drench my eyes
    Dry the streams still flowing
Cast down all the waves of sin
    And guilt that overthrow me

    [Chorus]

Lift me up - when I'm falling
Lift me up - I'm weak and I'm dying
Lift me up - I need you to hold me
Lift me up - Keep me from drowning again

It is a prayer to God for strength, and He has always been the one that sustains me.

I'm just glad I'm still here to experience them.

Me too. Some days I don't feel that way, but today's a better day, despite the overcast, or perhaps because of it. We all need the rain (and the sun), just not too much of either.
